MOVED by Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor
Spratley that the minutes of the meetinQ' of February
18th 1974 be adopted.

In a letter of February 19th 1974 the Ministry o~
Agriculture and Food asked municipalities to check
dog control policy and compensation for loss of sheep.
Meetings have been held with the Town of Ajax and
the H~3 ~~ciety concerning this matter.

WHEREA~ the International Catholic Deaf Association
has been granted a Provincial Lottery License
bearing number l43060¡ and
TiHEREAS the Association is within Metropolitan Toronto¡
and
~iHER~AS the Association has requested permission to
sell lottery tickets within the boundaries of
the Town of Pickering¡
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED that Council grant permission
to International Catholic Deaf Association to sell
lottery tickets in support of their organization.

MOVED by Councillor Spratley, seconded by Councillor
Searle that
~mEREAS Council by Resolution # 40/74 authorized the
purchase of buses for the Dial-a-Bus system; and
T~REAS Funcraft Corporation in conjunction with the
Province of Ontario has developed a bus for the
specific use of the Dia1-a-Bus system; and
~mEREAS they are the only Canadian Company presently
building this unit
BE IT
THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Purchasinq Department
is authorized to waive the normal tenderinq
procedure and are hereby authorized to place an
order with ~uncraft in an amount not to exceed
$66,000.00.

Anderson that the recommendation of the Director of
Recreation and Transportation of February 19th with
respect to the Kinsale Community Centre be adopted, as
recommended by the Executive Committee, February 25th

interface terminal on the walk-way leading to the park
to the rear of the Townhouses at Krosno Boulevard and

by the Town Clerk, as recomMended by the Executive Committee,

Searle that the report of the Town Treasurer of
February 7th 1974 with respect to the re-orqanization
of his department be adopted, as recommended by the
Executive Committee, (Closed Session), February 25th
1974.

MOVED by Councillor Kitchen, seconded by Councillor
Anderson that the resignation of Town Treasurer,
Mr. C.E. Ettinger, effective March 29th 1974 be
accepted with deep regret and that'Council wish him
every success in his new venture, as recommended by
the Executive Committee, (Closed Session), February
25th 1974.

Resolution 60/74
MO'~D by Councillor Kitchen, seconded by Councillor
Matheson that an approach be made to the Province to
secure a grant of $3.00 per capita for the operation
of the Dial-a-Bus System based on the total population
of the Town and that in the interim the ~1unicipality
continue the expanded operation on a trial basis,and
that the purchase of the fourth bus, authorized by
Council Resolution 40/74, be deferred pending clarifi-
cation of additional grants to the System, as
recommended by the Executive Committee, (Closed Session),
February 25th 1974.

Kitchen that the continuation of the expanded operation
of the Dial-a-Bus System on a trial basis be reviewed

Spratley that the Mayor and Councillor Kitchen Meet
with the M.T.C. and the local M.P.P. to examine the
grant structure available to the Municipality for the
operation of the Dial-a-Bus System, as recommended by
the Executive Committee, (Closed Session), February
25th 1974.

Kitchen that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to
petition the Ministry of Transportation and Communications
for subsidy on the amount of $1,015,292.85 for 1973
expenditures.

~mEREA~ The Public Transportation and Hiohway Improvement
Act requires the submission of a statement of
proposed expenditures for roads to the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications for approval;
AND ~mEREAS the normal expenditures for the year 1974 for
road construction and maintenance is estimated
at $685,000.00 with subsidies estimated at
$350,000.00;
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town
of Pickering adopts the estimated expenditures
and subsidies and submits same to the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications for
approval.

Robertson that
NHEREAS The Public Transportation and Highway Improvement
Act requires the submission of a statement of
proposed expenditures for roads to the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications for approval;
~iD vffiEREAS the supplementary expenditures for the year
1974 for road construction and Maintenance is
estimated at $433,000.00 with subsidies estimated
at $217,100.00;
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickerinq adopts the esti~ated expenditures and
subsidies and submits saMe to the ~inistry of
Transportation and Communications for approval.

moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to appoint a Deputy Clerk and that same now
be read a first and second time, and that Council go
into Committee of the ~~ole thereon.

By-law as read.

moves that the report of the Committee of the ~~ole
on By-law Number 31/74 be adopted, and that the said
By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the
Mayor and Clerk sign the same, and the seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.

moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to stop up and close a part of the road
allowance in Lot 18, Concession 9, of the Town of

the ~ole thereon.

By-law as read.
Councillor Anderson, seconded by Councillor Searle,
moves that the report of the Committee of the ~fuole
on By-law Number 32/74 be adopted, and that the said
By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the
Mayor and Clerk sign the same, and the seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.

moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of

Museum Committee and to repeal By-law Number 4307/73

that Council go into Committee of the T~ole thereon.

moves that the report of the Committee of the T~ole on
By-law Number 33/74 be adopted, and that the said By-law

OTHER BUSINESS
Councillor Robertson brouaht to the attention of Council
the fact that the entrancés to the professional and
nursing home buildinas on Liverpool-Road are in a very
unsiahtly condition with the boulevards churned up by
parked cars. It was suggested that the Town By-laws
prohibiting parkin~ on boulevards sho~ld be more
strictly enforced.
The question was brought up as to who was prosecuted
in By-law Court for erecting a building without a
Building Permit. The By-law Department was asked to
report.
