SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, February 16,
1998 at 7:10 p.m.

AUTHORITY TO MEET IN CAMERA
Moved by Councillor Johnson
Seconded by Councillor Ryan
That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c MA5, as amended,
the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a
meeting to consider a personal matters about an identifiable individual.

Resolution #41/98
Moved by Councillor Johnson
Seconded by Councillor Pickles
That the request of the Bay Ridges Hockey Tournament dated January 22, 1998 to waive
the hall and ice rental fees at the Don Beer Arena on April 3 & 4, 1998 in order to
conduct a benefit hockey tournament and dance be approved; and
That the said hall and ice rental fees totalling $3,424.00 be charged to Account 2195
(Grants to Organizations and Individuals).
Deferred for two weeks
The following motion was considered in conjunction with the above resolution:

Seconded by Councillor Holland
That the above resolution be deferred for two weeks in order for staff to report on what
other grants have been made to individuals within the last three years and if any other
grant was made in support of the Mitchell family.
CARRIED
The Town Solicitor reported that the appeal to Zoning By-law 5129/97 respecting
ClubLink had been withdrawn.
The Town Solicitor further reported that with respect to the Scarborough/Tapscott Area
Official Plan hearing, the Town will not be participating in these hearings but will be
assisting the Region.
