A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, January 31st,
2000 at 7:30 p.m.

This Special Meeting of Council was called by Mayor Arthurs pursuant to Section 3 of
By-law Number 3665/91 (Procedural By-law) to celebrate Pickering's City status.

Mayor Arthurs called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Roger Anderson, Chair, Regional Municipality of Durham, brought greetings on
behalf of the Region and the Honourable Janet Ecker, Minister of Education and
MPP, Pickering/AjaxlUxbridge brought greetings on behalf of the Province of
Ontario.

By-law Number 5616/00
Councillor Ryan seconded by Councillor Holland moved for leave to introduce a
By-law of the City of Pickering to confirm those proceedings of the Council of
the Corporation of the City of Pickering at its Special Meeting of January 31 st,
2000 and that the same be now finally passed and that the Mayor and Clerk sign
the same and that the Seal of the Corporation be thereto affixed.
