Resolution #55/02

Seconded by Councillor Holland
That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, RS.O. 1990, c MAS, as amended, the Council of
the Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a closed meeting to discuss a land
matter.

That the recommendation set out in the Confidential Memorandum of the Chief Administrative Officer
and the Solicitor for the City dated March 14, 2002 concerning a corporate business proposal be
approved as amended.

WHEREAS the Council of the City of Pickering passed Resolution # 172/01 at its regular meeting of
December 17, 2001 to advise Ajax Council that Pickering City Council recommends the use of one street
name for that section of the road between the interchange of Pickering Beach Road and Highway 401 (in
the Town of Ajax) and the future interchange of Salem Road and Highway 407 (in the City of Pickering);
and that Pickering City Council recommends that the name "Salem Road" be used for the section of road
between the interchanges of Highway 401 and Highway 407; and

WHEREAS this Resolution was communicated to the Council of the Town of Ajax but notices have been
published in the local newspaper advising that the Town of Ajax is continuing the street name process to
re-name parts of Pickering Beach Road and Salem Road, south of Taunton Road, to accommodate the
street name of "Carruthers Creek Drive";
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby expresses its
continued opposition to the proposed street name change of parts of Pickering Beach Road and Salem
Road, south of Taunton Road, to accommodate the street name of "Carruthers Creek Drive".

Councillor Holland congratulated staff on the preparation of the budget.

Councillor Holland noted that a petition submitted by taxicab owners had been submitted
requesting information on the status of several taxicab owners' plates.
3.
Councillor Johnson also congratulated staff on the budget preparation.
