2/10/2015 City of Pickering 164 0 PiCKERiNG Hide Left Content 0 Hide Right Content Council Highlights April 22, 2014 National Youth Week - May 1 to 7, 2014 The City of Pickering proclaimed the week of May 1 to 7,2014 as National Youth Week. Justin Yeung,President, Pac4 Teens and a member of the City of Pickering's Youth staff,attended the meeting to speak about the City's Free Teen Programs and promote upcoming events. 2525 Ontario Regiment Cadet Corps 60th Anniversary Celebrations May 11,2014 marks the 60th anniversary of the 2525 Ontario Regiment Cadet Corps.They will be hosting the Annual Garrison Parade at the Don Beer Arena on June 1st and a Celebratory Dinner at Pickering Recreation Complex on Saturday,June 7th. Representatives of the Cadet Corps attended the Council meeting to seek assistance from the City of Pickering to waive the facility rental fees for both events. Council approved the request as a grant.View the 2525 Ontario Regiment Cadet Corps website for more details on their upcoming events. Community Grant Policy Council approved Report CR 04-14-Community Association Agreements,Facility Partnerships&Community Grants Policy outlining recommendations for staff to enter into written facility agreements with each association for consideration and approval by Council. The report also provides for a review of the existing City of Pickering Community Grant Policy.This Policy requires qualified community associations to submit a request for financial support of community events,programs and initiatives,and to present a revised Grant Policy for Council consideration. See Report CR 04-14 for more information. Access to Recreation Policy Council endorsed Report CR 08-14 for Council to sign the Advancing Access to Affordable Recreation in Durham (AAARD)Charter,and further that Council approve the new City of Pickering Access to Recreation Policy. See Report CR 08-14 for more information. Artificial Turf Field and Site Improvements - Beverley Morgan Park Council approved Tender No.T-5-2014 submitted by Latitude 67 Ltd for a total tendered amount of$1,321,423.70 (HST included). The total project cost of$1,593,031 (HST included) which includes the tendered amount and other associated costs and the total net project cost of$1,434,574 will be funded from the York Region (Southeast Collector Enhancements)revenues.
