2/10/2015 City of Pickering D ' PiCKERiNG NG Hide Left Content 0 Hide Right Content Council Highlights June 16, 2014 City of Pickering Cultural Strategic Plan Council approved Report CR 02-14-June 2014"Cultural Strategic Plan"Final Report and "A Cultural Map of Pickering". The Plan sets a vision for the place of arts,culture and heritage in the City and identifies strategic directions for policy, investment,partnerships and programs for the next 10 years. This will be used by staff as the basis for future corporate decisions,recommendations and budget submissions. See Report CR 02-14 for more information. Corporate Energy Management Plan Council approved Report PLN 12-14-Corporate Energy Management Plan (CEMP)for the City of Pickering prepared by IndEco Strategic Consulting for the City's facilities,street lights and traffic signals. This is a result of a five month study that included data collection and analysis,interviews,workshop,and CEMP preparation. The CEMP is designed to comply with the Green Energy Act, 2009,which requires the public sector to prepare and complete CEMPs by July 1, 2014. See Report PLN 12-14 for more information 2013 Accessibility Progress Report Council approved Report CR 03-14- The City of Pickering's 5 Year Accessibility Plan,2012-2016,which is the City's multi-year plan developed to meet the requirements of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA)and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act,2005(AODA). The report provides Council with an update on 2013 activities and achievements related to the Plan and the City's status in relation to the compliance deadlines. See Report CR 03-14 for more information. Veridian Corporation Amended and Restated•Shareholder's Agreement Council approved Report LEG 05-14,the Veridian Corporation Amended and Restated Shareholders'Agreement to support proposed changes to reduce the number of Board Members from 20 to 15 effective January 1,2015 and save an estimated $100,000 a year. See Report LEG 05-14 for more information. Delegations Paul Przybylo, President,Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade appeared before Council to provide his annual update. He noted that the Board of Trade is comprised of 14 business volunteers on the Board with over 600 members. The Ajax- Pickering Board of Trade has put on various events throughout the year,including park cleanups and lunch and learns sessions. Mr. Przybylo expressed his thanks to the City for all their support. Randy Gill &Sean Lockhart from"Their Opportunity Minor Sports Corporation"appeared before Council to provide an overview of their organization. "Their Opportunity"provides low income families with the opportunity to enroll their children in local sports programs. Those children that receive sponsorship are encouraged to give back to the community and Mr.Lockhart shared real-life stories of the children who have benefited from this program.
