1. Adoption of Minutes
Moved by Konrad Zeh, seconded by Brian Hern that the Minutes of
the Meeting of March 25, 1992 be adopted.

2. Heritage Publishing House
After discussion, and a report from Konrad, the committee did not
consider it worthwhile or beneficial to invest in the book
entitled Ontario, but felt it would be appropriate as a library
reference. eA i ow l O
3. Building Permit Applications in Heritage Conservation Areas ,.
Konrad reported that he will present the procedures at the next
meeting.

4. Grave Stone Restoration at the Mennonite Cemetary,
The committee discussed the letter from Linda Williams. Anna
reported that Nancy McAlpine of Whitby Community Services Work was
very interested in this project. Celia is to arrange an on site
meeting with Linda. Brian will invite a representative from the
Genealogical Society to attend. Konrad has requested a copy of
The Cemetary Act and The Heritage Act.
5. Other Business
a) Konrad requested that Bruce Taylor be approached concerning
increasing the members of LACAC.
b) Konrad reported a quote from a local sign maker with respect

to the preparation of the Property Warning Signs. Twelve
signs (24" x 32") for $260.00 plus taxes. The Town Crests
would be an additional $7.00 each. Kim will check into
alternate pricing for the Crests. Kim moved and Brian
seconded that Konrad order the signs.
c) Konrad reported that he had been speaking with Rev. McKay
concerning republishing The Pickering Story and that Rev.
McKay has no objection. Konrad will investigate further the
steps necessary for the republishing.

d) The committee discussed the recent announcement of the
decision to sell certain airport lands. It was decided to
contact Transport Canada for information and clarification
as to which lands are to be sold, and what procedures will
be followed. A copy of this letter is to be sent to Rene
Soetens' .
A letter of thanks will be sent to Public Works Canada for •
seeking a federal heritage designation for the Bentley
House. A copy of The Heritage Review which was to be - °
completed by March 31st, 1992 will be requested. A copy of
this letter is to be sent to Margaret Crann.

e) Anna spoke with Marylou Evans of the Ministry to find out if
there is a mechanism that could be used between Ministries
to address LACAC's concerns. A Protocol Board acts as
liason between Culture and Community Services and Government
Services and meets when the need arises. Anna stated that
her main concern is that the proper steps are not being
followed with regards to the rehabilitation of homes.

Heritai suggested that they consider designating the
church and left information with them with regards to this.
6. Next Meeting
The next meeting is to be held on Tuesday, May 26th, 1992 at 7:00
p.m. at the Pickering Civic Complex.
