MINUTES
A meeting of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee
was held on Wednesday,. May 5, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. in Meeting Room #1,
Pickering Civic Complex.

1. Adoption of Minutes
Minutes received and accepted.

2. Ministry of Government Services Properties
Moved by Konrad Zeh
Seconded by Janice Waithe Huberty
That 1345 Whitevale Road warrants further investigation prior to
advising of heritage significance.
CARRIED
Janet Mehak will investigate and report by June meeting.
Moved by Frank Williamson
Seconded by Konrad Zeh
That 1765 Whitevale Road is not of heritage significance.
CARRIED
3. Post Manor
A request was received to amend By-law 2570-87 by removing the
heritage designation from the property surrounding Post Manor
which the Swiss Chalet and Sundial Donuts is situated on.
Moved by Konrad Zeh
Seconded by Janet Mehak
That By-law 2570-87 not be amended, but that the present
designation remain in place, as the property the building is
situated on plays., an integral part in its historic significance
to the community.

4. Post Cemetary
A request was received concerning changing the name of Post
Cemetary..
Moved by Konrad Zeh
Seconded by Janice Waithe Huberty
That Heritage Pickering have no objection to the placing of a
marker as supported by Mr. Codling.
CARRIED
The request to change the official designation of the cemetary
requires further information. Frank Williamson will contact Mr.
Codling concerning documentation of name.

5. Planning Review Meeting
Dave Pickles explained efforts of the Official Plan Review
Committee and their expectations for input from groups such as
Heritage Pickering. All members are requested to prepare draft
policy suggestions.
6. Public Works Department
Whittaker comments were discussed.
7. Information Package,
Comments regarding the Whitevale Heritage Conservation District
from the consultant and the Ministry are available from Debbie
Kearns, Secretary.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
a) Letter from Pichtaler concerning the Town purchase of the
Bentley House. Policy for distribution of. Airport Lands to
be advised in June.
b) Bentley House - Dave Pickles will draft a letter to Rene
Soetens. Henry Lawman is writing an article for the
newspaper.
An Open House is being held on May 17, 1993 concerning the
Pickering Surplus 'Lands Disposition Initial Assessment.
Janet Mehak will attend the Open House to obtain information
for Henry Gauman.
c) Heritage Pickering have been invited to participate in the
Whitevale Country Days, May 29, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Frank
Williamson will co-ordinate a display from Heritage Week for
this event.
d) A request for comments concerning the IWA Report will be
requested from Untermann McPhail Cumming Associates.
e) Check with the Planning Department and the Public Works
Department concerning the status of the Halliday application.
f) Konrad Zeh will take responsibility for the preparation of a
strategy and proposal concerning the storage area.

The next meeting shall be held on Wednesday, June 2, 1993 at 7:00
p.m. in Meeting Room #1.
