Z0 Lte iur7zrrll Com e r rizon. deooriff C0171,77c re MINUTES A meeting of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was held on Wednesday, September 21, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pickering Civic Complex, Tower Room. PRESENT: • Henry Gawman Janet Mehak Frank Williamson ABSENT: Enrico Pistritto Dave Pickles • Janice Waithe-Huberty Kimberley Thompson Anna Willson • STAFF: • Debbie Kearns, Secretary LACAC • 1. Post Manor Real Estate Henry Gawman advised that gingerbread is being installed on Post Manor and the sign is still in place. 2. Post Cemetary • A sign will be posted at the cemetery stating 'Heritage Pickering Property Under Surveillance' -2 - 3 Heritage Signs A decision was made to make the Pickering Heritage Signs bronze. Frank Williamson showed the committee a sample of a Whitby Heritage Sign which was made be the same company who has quoted on our signs. 4. Summer Student Frank Williamson advised that he had been in contact with the Town of Whitby, Planning Department and was informed that the Planning Department are very involved in LACAC work and also do the hiring of a summer student for this purpose. 5. New Members Henry Gawman distributed to the committee an outline of qualitifications which new LACAC members should be required to have. (Copy Attached) 6. Photographs Henry Gawman submitted photographs of three properties of heritage significance: a) the Jones property, b) the oldest house in Greenwood Village, c) a house on the east side of Salem Road, below old Hwy. #5. 7. Library The secretary was requested to forward a letter to the Library concerning acquiring information which was outlined in the last LACAC minutes. 8. Photographs of Heritage Properties Frank Williamson gave a short report on the photographs of heritage significant properties which were submitted by Anna Willson. 9. Heritage Resources The Secretary was directed to contact Unterman McPhail Cuming Associates to enquire as to where the resources, which they referred to in their report, could be acquired. 10.Heritage Week The Committee are requested to submit suggestions for Heritage Week which takes place in February. Next Meeting Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the Civic Complex. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. • September -1994 TO: Town of Pickering council - 1994-97. Dear councillors, When the Town of Pickering advertises for volunteers • to fill vacancies on the 94-97 LACAC committee, we suggest the following guidelines: Citizens wishing to sit on the committee should have: 1 time to attend monthly meetings. 2 be willing to spend some time furthering the aims and objects of the committee. 3 be interested in the historical aspects of Pickering.
