A meeting of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was held on Tuesday,
February 6, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pickering Civic Complex, Tower Room.

1. McPherson/Campbell House •
Kim Thompson advised that work, such as roof coverage, general clean-up and stablization of
the McPherson/Campbell House was to be carried out but at present only a roll roof has been
placed.

Seconded by Enrico Pistritto
That a letter be forwarded to the Town Manager and Town Solicitor concerning the
stabilization of the McPherson/Campbell house and requesting that the Committee be kept
informed on a regular basis regarding the status of the property.

2. Update on Monica Cook Estate
Kim Thompson advised that she had received two requests concerning salvaging material
from the Monica Cook House. The Committee'concurred that this should be carried out and
of the Pickering East Shore Community Association be advised of this

• situation. The Secretary will insert a paragraph in the previously prepared letter concerning
the historical value of the Cooke House to Mr. Mohr• advising of the requests for salvaging
material from this estate

-3. Heritage Week
Kim Thompson advised that she had been.contacted by a Museum representative who
inquired if LACAC would be interested in preparing a display for Heritage Day, February 24th
between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Displays will be placed in the Pickering Recreation Complex
foyer. Katherine Tredway indicated that she would be willing to assist with this display.
Frank Williamson will contact Katherine to make arrangements.
4. New Business
a) 1996 Budget
Kim Thompson advised of the reductions which have been made to the LACAC 1996
budget. Dennis Mann will prepare a new budget submission along with back-up material
to justify amounts.
b) Storage Area
The need for storage area for LACAC Inventory was discussed. Dennis Mann will include
back-up information concerning this requirement within the 1996 Budget proposal.
c) Museum Car Rally
Kim Thompson advised that she had received a request from Mary Cook asking for
LACAC to prepare a route of interesting heritage buildings for the Museum Car Rally.
Andy Cobean offered to work on this request with Katherine Tredway. The Secretary will
acquire two rural area maps from the Planning Department for this purpose.
d) CHO Membership,
Moved by Dennis Mann
Seconded by Henry Gawman
That the Membership Fee of$50.00 be forwarded to Community Heritage Ontario.
CARRIED
Dave Pickles suggested and agreed to write an article for possible inclusion in a
Community Heritage Ontario publication concerning the McPherson/Campbell House.
5. Other Business
a) Dennis Mann put forward a recommendation that every LACAC member take at least one
course this year to help increase the knowledge of the membership as a whole.
b) Frank Williamson requested that the letterhead symbol which was suggested by Katherine
Tredway be replaced with a symbol which would better reflect Pickering.
6. Next Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th, 1996 at 7 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
