MINUTES •
A meeting of the Heritage Pickering Committee was held on Tuesday, May 6th, 1997 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Pickering Civic Complex, Meeting Room 1.

1. INVENTORY
Kim advised that she will be meeting with Catherine when she returns in a weeks time. A hard
copy of the inventory will be completed and placed on a disk. Catherine has completed the
research on the Dunbar, Newman, Skentoz and Brougham Hall properties. Brochures have
been completed and copies were distributed.

2. PICKERING HISTORICAL SOCIETY'
The Pickering Historical.Society Inaugural Meeting would be taking place on May 7th at 9:30
p.m.
3. OTHER BUSINESS •
a) Kim advised that she had been speaking with Mr. Bob Martindale of Ajax LACAC.
concerning staggering membership. It was suggested that this would be mare appropriate
for membership rather than new committee members being appointed each election year.
b) Kim will check with the Library concerning members access to the History Room at times
•
other than those designated to the public. •
c) Kim advised that a joint meeting will be held with Ajax LACAC on May 15th, 7:30 p.m. in •
the Planning Meeting Room. .
d) It was suggested that the new committee review the Terms of Reference.

e) Isa questioned the possibility of soliciting public interest in buildings worth saving.
f) Isa suggested producing a map identifying properties of signifcance along with a legend
outlining interest points.
g) Kim distributed and discussed her wish list for 1997.
