MINUTES •
A meeting of the Heritage Pickering Committee was held on Wednesday, November 28, 1997 at
7:00 p.m. in the Pickering Civic Complex, Tower Room.

1. HERITAGE PICKERING•BROCHURES
Catherine distributed drafts of the Walking Tour Series of Greenwood, Claremont, Fairport
Hamlet and reviewed with the Committee the draft of the Pickering Driving Tour.
2. PROPOSED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES/INFORMATION PACKAGE FOR
- NEW MEMBERS
The Committee discussed and agreed that the preparation of new policies and procedures
should be undertaken by the new Committee.
Isa advised that she was informed by the Town Clerk that an information package is not made
available to the new Committee but, upon their request, items such as Terms of Reference and
• By-law could be made available.

3. REPORT TO COUNCIL

. Isa advised that the Town .Clerk confirmed that the present.Committee could forward to
• '• Council, and have considered, their recommendations for qualifications of new Committee
members.

4. MISSING HERITAGE PICKERING PROPERTY
Isa advised that the two History of Pickering novels are missing. She will contact Louise
Wiersma to ask if she has one of the copies.
5. OTHER BUSINESS
a) Catherine brought with her a partial inventory list, approximately 500 properties, for the
Committee's review.
b) John commented on the request from the Planning Department for their assistance with
the wording and shape of the plaque to be placed on the Monica Cook property. He
advised of his comments to the Planning Department and the Committee decided that the
plaque should be a page shaped plaque.
c) John advised that he had visited many of the Pickering cemeteries and had taken many
pictures for the Committee's review. He stated that the cemeteries are in deplorable
condition. He will be forwarding a report to the Committee, which may take
approximately one year to complete.
d) John suggested that the Committee purchase Pickering historical maps from the Archives.
This recommendation was concurred with.
e) Dave Pickles advised the Committee of his resignation as a member of the Committee due
to his election to Municipal Council.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
