ACQUISITION OF PARKLAND
672003 ONTARIO LIMITED

In Planning Report No. 22/96, it is recommended that Council determine the
parkland acquisition option it wishes to implement in the Dunbarton
Neighbourhood and adopt the appropriate resolutions to implement this option.

(IV) OTHER BUSINESS
1. Councillor Senis advised that the 'Take Back The Night' walk will be taking place
on Thursday, September 26, 1996 at 6:30 p.m., beginning at the Civic Complex.
2. Mayor Arthurs advised that the Ontario Municipal Board upheld Council's
approval of the Top Rank Bingo hall application.

Mayor Arthurs commented on the Mayor's Charity Classic Golf Tournament, held
on Thursday, September 19th, 1996, in support of the Ajax/Pickering Hospital
Foundation. He thanked Councillor Johnson for his involvement in the Committee
and all Councils support of the event. He outlined the corporate sponsors and
advised that the event was a great success.
4.
Councillor Johnson advised that the Writers Circle event at the Pickering Museum
Village on Sunday, September 22nd, 1996 was a great success.
5.
Councillor Johnson advised that $15,000 was raised at the Terry Fox Run, held on
September 22nd, 1996.
6.
Councillor Dickerson commented on the Ontario Municipal Board ruling on Top
Rank Bingo Hall. He congratulated the President of the Liverpool West
Community Association, Mr. Craig Bamford for his efforts concerning this matter.
7.
Councillor Dickerson advised the community of the meeting scheduled for 7:00
p.m., Tuesday, September 24th, 1996 at the Civic Complex, Council Chambers
regarding vandalism, loitering and other occurrences taking place in community
parks.

Councillor Brenner congratulated the Rouge Valley Community Association on
their very successful 8th Annual Picnic held this past weekend.
9.
Councillor Brenner commented on the By-law coming forward concernmg
Confidentiality of Council.

That the Executive Committee of the Town of Pickering having met on September 23, 1996,
presents its twelfth report to Council and recommends:
1.
REGION OF DURHAM TENDER D96-3
FOR REHABILITATION OF REGIONAL
ROAD 5 (CENTRAL STREET) CLAREMONT

That acceptance by the Region of Durham of the low tender of Miwell
Construction in the amount of $323,856.72 (including net G.S.T.) for the
rehabilitation of Regional Road 5, Claremont, with a total Town commitment of
$56,470.67, be confirmed;
and that Council be advised that this amount exceeds the 1995 (carried over to
1996) allocated budget amount of $50,000.00;
and that Council approve an over-expenditure from the 1995 Budget 4232 (public
Works Rural Community Reserve Fund) in the amount of$6,470.67.

WHEREAS Section 446 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O, 1990., c. MA5. transfers
the responsibility for the hearing of the applications for cancellation, reduction or
refund of taxes to the Council of the Municipality;
AND WHEREAS notices in writing of applications have been received by the
Clerk of the Municipality for the cancellation, reduction and refund of taxes for
various reasons;
AND WHEREAS upon investigation and receipt of reasonable explanations all
claims have been substantiated;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOL YED that the Council of the Town of Pickering
