(I) RESOLUTIONS
Resolution #1/05
Moved by Councillor Dickerson
Seconded by Councillor Pickles
That the request of the Rotary Club of Pickering to waive the rental fee of the East
and West Salons at the Recreation Complex on Saturday, January 15, 2005 in
support of a fundraising event to raise funds for the victims of the tsunami that
struck southeast Asia be received; and
That a one-time grant in the amount of $1,238.58 be made to the Rotary Club of
Pickering to offset the said rental fee of the East and West Salons at the Recreation
Complex on Saturday, January 15, 2005; and

That this amount be charged to Account 2195 (Grants to Organizations &
Individuals).

Resolution #2/05
Moved by Councillor McLean
Seconded by Councillor Dickerson
That a one-time grant in the amount of $5,000.00 be made to the Durham Community
Tsunami Relief Fund; and
That this amount be charged to Account 2195 (Grants to Organizations & Individuals).
CARRIED UNANAMOUSLY
It was the consensus of Council that the City of Pickering reserve a table at the function
sponsored by the United Way of Pickering-Ajax-Uxbridge on February 5, 2005.
Members of Council discussed the process of being notified of events where their
presence may be expected.
Mayor Ryan reported that Whitby Council will be dealing with a staff report that
recommends against confirming the Regional by-law on transit amalgamation.

Seconded by Councillor Pickles
That pursuant to Section 239(4) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, the Council of
The Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a closed meeting to
discuss a matter of potential litigation.
