THIS SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL HAS BEEN CALLED BY MAYOR ARTHURS
PURSUANT TO SECTION 3 OF BY-LAW NUMBER 3665/91 (PROCEDURAL BY-
LAW) TO CONSIDER A BY-LAW TO APPOINT AN "INTERIM MAYOR" AND A BY-
LAW TO APPOINT PERDITA FELICIEN AS A GOODWILL AMBASSADOR FOR THE
CITY OF PICKERING.
(I) BY-LAWS
By-law Number 6183/03
Being a by-law to to appoint a Member of Council to act in the place of the
head of Council when the head of Council is absent or the office is vacant.
By-law Number 6184/03
Being a by-law to appoint Perdita Felicien as a Goodwill Ambassador of the
City of Pickering.
This By-law will be distributed to Members of Council at the Special Meeting

THE CORPORATION Of THE CITY OF PICKERING
BY-LAW NO. 6183/03
Being a by-law to appoint a Member of
Council to act in the place of the head of
Council when the head of Council is absent
or the office is vacant.
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 242 of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25, as
amended, a municipality may by by-law or resolution appoint a member of the council to
act in the place of the head of council when the head of council is absent or refuses to
act or the office is vacant and while so acting such member has all the powers and
duties of the head of council;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Councillor is hereby appointed to act in the place of the
head of council when the head of council is absent or refuses to act or the office
is vacant.
During the period of time in which the above Councillor is acting in the place of
the head of council, his title shall be known as "Interim Mayor" for administrative
purposes.
3. Section l(a) of By-law Number 5784/00 is hereby rescinded.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 29th day of
September, 2003.
