requlate sewage treatment charges
within sewer area no. 1 of the
Township of Picketing
WHEREAS Section 380, sub-section 15 of The Municipal Act
authorizes Council to impose upon owners or occupants of
land who use sewage works a sewage service rate;
AND WHEREAS Council has by By-law No. 2489 defined Sewer
Area No. i of the To~am~t~p of Picketing and by By-law No.
2505 defined the type, strength and quantity of Sewage
which may enter a public sewer~
BE IT ENACT~ by the Municipal Corporation of the Town-
ship of Picketing that~
1. The cost of sewage treatment be recovered from those
premises connected to the sewage system.
2. The Sewage Service Rates for Domestic users in Sewer
A~ea No. I shall be a flat rate of $18.00 (eighteen
dollars) per year per dwelling unit. New dwellings
occupied after January 1st in any year shall be rated
at $1.50 (one dollar and fifty cents) per month or
part thereof per dwelling unit fr~ the date of
occupat ion.
3. (a) The sewage service rates for Ccmuercial users
shall be based on the quantity of water consumed
on the premises according to the water meter readings
and shall be as follows~

(b)The time limit to take advantage of the reduced
bill for prompt payment shall be 14 days after
the billing date.
(c)There shall be 4 (four billing months in a
calendar year and such billing period shall be
3 (three) calendar months or part thereof.
4. Commercial users may install a meter approved by
the Township Engineer, at the point of entry to the
public sewer from their premises and this reading
s~11 constitute the quantity of sewage for basing
the sewage service ~harges at the rates described
in Section 3 (a) of this By-law.

5. The Water Department shall collect the Co~nercial
Sewage Service Charges in a ~anner similar to the
billing and collection of taxes.
6. This By-law shall become effective immediately.
7. By-law Number 2639 is hereby repealed and any other
By-law which is contrary to the provisions of this
By-law shall be amended to the extent necessary to
give effect to this By-law.
