on the streets set out herein as loc~ improve-
ments under the prov_[sions of The Local
Improvement Act.
~IER~S a petition has been received by t~s Council
from owners of l~ds liable to be speci~ly assessed with the cost
of the works as local improvements ~d the Clerk ha~ certified
that the petition is sufficient;
A~ '$iER~S it is expedient to gr~t the prayers of
such petitioners in the m~er hereinafter prodded.
NOW ~t~QE~ORE THE COUNCIL OF TH~ COR[~ORATION OF THE
TO~SHIP OF~ PICKERING ENACTS A~ FOLLOW~:
1. That s~itary sewers be const~cted on the streets ~d
between the points ~d on the easements ~d between the points as
set out in Schedule "A" ~exed hereto at an estimated cost of
$45,000.00 as local improvements ~der the pro~sions of The Local
Improvement Act. The entire cost of the said s~it~y sewers is
to be specially assessed upon the l~ds abutting directly on the
work ~d upon l~ds not abutting directly upon the work but
i~ediately benefitting therefrom. The entire cost, including
debenture charges, shall be assessed ~d levied on the rateable
property in the ~ea set out in Schedule "B" ~exed hereto which
is hereby defined a S~it~y Sewer Local Improvement Area pursuit
to Section 67(1) of The Local Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1960, as
~ended, ~d be p~d by ~ ~nual rate of 66~ per foot on the
l~ds speci~ly assessed~
That s~itary sewer connections be const~cted on the
streets ~d easements ~d between the points as set out in Schedule
"A" ~exed hereto at ~ estimated cost of $10,000~00 as local im-
provements ~der the pro~sions of The Local Improvement Act. The
entire cost of each Connection sh~l be specially assessed upon the
particular lot for or in connection with w~ch it is constructed.
3. That wate~ains be constructed on the streets ~d be-
tween the points as set out in Schedule "C" ~exed hereto at ~
estimated cost of~3~8OO.00 as loc~ improvements ~der the pro-
~sions of THE LOC~ IMPRO~T ACT. The entire cost of the s~d

watermains is to be specially assessed upon the lands abutting
directly on the work and upon lauds not abutting directly upon
the work but ~mmediately benefitting therefrom. The entire cost,
including debenture charges, shall be assessed and levied on the
rateable property in the area set out in Schedule "D" annexed
hereto which is hereby defined a Water Local Improvement Area
pursuant to Section 67(1) of The Local Improvement Act, R.S.O.
1960, as amended, and be paid by an annual rate of 532 per foot
on the lands specially assessed.
4. That water service connections be constructed on the
streets and between the podnts as set out in Schedule "C" annexed
hereto at an estimated cost of $7,200.00 as local improvements
under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. The entire
cost of each water service connection shall be specially assessed
upon the particular lot for or in connection with which it is
constructed.
5. The Engineer of the Corporation is hereby authorized
to make such plans, profiles and specifications and furnish such
information as may be necessary for the making of contracts, for
the doing of the work or for carrying out the same by day labour
and the work shall be carried on and executed under the super-
intendence and according to the directions and orders of the said
Engineer.
6. The entire cost of the works be paid by the issuance
of debentures bearing interest at the rate of 6 percentum per
annum and be repaid by the said special assessments over a term
of 20 years.
7. The Treasurer of the Township may, subject to the
approval of Council, agree with any bank or person for temporary
advances of money to meet the cost of the work pending the com-
pletion thereof.
8. Any person whose lot is specially assessed may commute
by a payment in cash the special rates imposed by paying the costs
of construction assessed upon such lot without the interest forth-
with after the Special Assessment Roll has been certified by the
Clerk but may not commute after the Debenture By-law has been
passed.
