A BY-LAW TO EXEMPT CERTAIN FARM LANDS FROM TAXATION FOR CERTAIN
EXPENDITURES OF THE MUNICIPALITY.
WHEREAS Chapter 23, Section 37, of the Assessment Act provides for
the exemption of certain farm lands from taxation for expenditures
incurred by the Township of Pickering for fire protection;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to grant such exemption;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Corporation
of the Township of Pickering:
1. THAT this By-Law shall apply to lands in the'Uownship of Pickering
held and used as farm lands only and in blocks of not less than
five acres by any one person.
2. Lands described by Paragraph 1 of this By-Law are hereby exe4i6? ed
from expenditures for fire protection to the extent of _p
per cent of the assessed value of such lands.
3. The said exemption shall not apply to the assessed value of any
buildings on any lands.
