A BY-LAW OF THE CORPOPATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO
PROVIDE FOR A TWO YEAR TEP~4 FOR ELECTIONS OF TRUSTEES TO
TOWNSHIP SCHOOL AREA BOAI~)So
WHEIFAS Municipal elections are now for a two year ter~n;
A,N.D,,,WHE~F_.~S Section 53 sub section 6 of the Municipal Act 1960
provides~ "Where a By-Law has been or is passed under sub
section 1~ the Council may by by-law passed not later in the
year than the 1st day of November provide that every elected
member of any local board as defined in The Department of
Municipal Affairs Act that is designated in the by-law shall~
notwithstanding any general or special Act~ be elected at
the same tinte and hold office for the same tenm as the
members of the Council and, where the powers conferred by
this subsection Ks exercised in respect of any local board~
all the elected members of such board an office when the
By-Law is passed cease to hold office at the end of the year
in which the by-law Ks passed and subsection 3 or subsections
4 and 5 apply mutatis matandis;"
AND WHE~AS the Department of Municipal Affairs Act defines~a
School Board as a "local board";
BE IT THE~Fl~FORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the
Township of Picketing that the elections for trustees for the
School Area Boards held in the year 1961 be for a two year
terra, at the same time and place and in the same manner as
