A BY-LAW OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING PASSED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
THE ASSESSMS~T ACT, R.S.0. 1950, C}~PTER 24, TO DEFINE AND DECLARE
AREA TO BE A POLICE VILLAGE F0H TI{E PIlRPOSE OF SECTION 7 OF THE SAID
ACT.
~IEREAS by provision of The Assessment Act, R.S.0. 1950, Chapter 24,
Section 9, provision is made for the assessment by the township of
Telephone and Telegraph Companies carrying on business within the
limits of such township as provided by the provisions of Section 7;
AN__~)~ER.E_~~ by the provisions of The Assessment Act, R.S.0. 1950,
Chapter 24, Section 9, which is to provide that where in the township
the density of population is not less than 150 of population to 500
acres, the Council thereof may, subject to the approval of the Depart-
ment, by by-law define such areas and declare the same to be police
villages for the purpose under Section 7 and each year thereafter so
long as the by-law remains in force;
AND ~{EREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing
desires to define an area and declare the same to be a police village
within the meaning of the said above recited section;
TIIEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That pursuant to %he provisions of The Assessment Act, R.S.0.
1950, Chapter 24, Section 9, the said Corporation hereby declares
to be a police village for the purposes of Section 7 of The Assess-
ment Act, R.E.0. 1950, Chapter 24, the areas described on a map
attached hereto which said area may be more particularly described
as follows:
2. Wards 4 and 5 of the Township of Picketing comprising all of Lots
22 to :)5 inclusive, between Lake Ontario and the Third Concession
Line and that portion of Ward 3 which includes parts of Lots 1 9
to 21 inclusive between Highway Number 2 and the Second Concession
Line.
$. This by-law when approved by the Department of ~[unicipal A~irs /
shall come into force ~nd take effect on the ~,~- day of
195~, ':u the year following the year in which the said b~-daw is
approved by the said Department.
4. 'fl~at By-Law Number 2343 be and the same is hereby repealed.
