RATE TO COVER COST OF OPERATION OF THE SEVERAL FIRM' DEPARTMENTS, IN
THE Y?AR 1957.
1%7TF3REAS under By-Law Number 1823 a FIRE AREA was created, comprisin-
LotS KTUmher 24 to 35 inclusive, and under By-Law Ntu,.;ber 2098 the area
was amended to cover Lots 22 to 35 inclusive, from Lake Ontario to
half way between Concessions No. 3 and No. 4, knovni as FIRE 11111h1
NiDiBE.1( ONa', and has an assessment of ';5,3750189.G7;
AND 1>nfMrAS the remaining part of the Township secures protection
from. the Police Village of Claremont and Stouffville, Ajax , Pickerin-
Village and BrouThar, Fire Brigades;
AND_IIIIEREAS the assessment for the Police Village of Clarer:iont for the
year 1957 is j 380,132.78, and as they own their local fire fighting
equipment are exer:pt from further levy;
ANTI) WVERIEAS the assessment of the Mwiicipality, excluding Fire Area
Niurher One,{'anl the Police Village of Claremont, is '6,6460738.79;
AND WHEREAS Fire Area Number O,?e requires the sun; of .'? 8,350.00 and
the remaining area requires the sum of `j (3,650.00 for "TIT;: OPERATION
OF FIRE 1yQTT1PA10TT" for the year 1957;
Bf? IT TTIEREFORE i;NTACTE1) by the Municipal Council of the Township of
Pickering:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in FIRE AREA NUMBER ONE in the year
1957, the rate or sum of 1.54 Mills on the Dollar, amounting to
8,277.79 for the aforesaid purpose in the said year.
2. That there be raisers, levied and collected, from and upon all the
rateable property in the Municipality, excluding FIRE AREA NUMBER
ONE and the VILLAGE; OF CLAREITONT, the rate or stud of 1. Nills on
the Dollar, ar:oun.ting to 6,616.73 for the aforesaid purposes in the
said year.
