A BY-LAW TO ASSESS THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING, FOR THE
IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIR OF ROADS AND BRIDGES, PAYMENT OF SALARIES, THE
GENERAL EXPENSES CF THE CORPORATIONS, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF WELFARE, FOR
THIS MUNICIPALITY'S'SHARE OF THE COST OF ROADS AND GENERAL PURPOSES OF
THE COUNTY OF ONTARIO AND TO PAY THE TOWNSHIP'S SHARE OF THE COST OF
OPERATIONS OF THE PICKERING DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL BOARD, for the YEAR 1954.
WHEREAS it will require the sum of o0Z rom the Municipality
of the Township of Pickering for the i pro ement and repair of roads
and bridges, the payment of salaries and the general expenses of the
Municipality, in the year 1954;
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of - 3,..,4;?Oto defray the
general expenses of the Police Village of Claremont and to cover the
share of the Police Village in sundry services and expenses of the
Municipality during the said year;
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of Z Z So• e o to defray the
cost he Municipality for Welfare to the unemployed and poor and
hospitalization of same, in the said year;
AND WHEREAS the County Council of the County of Ontario will require
the levy and collection from and upon all the rateable property in the
Municipality of the Township of Pickering, in the year 1954 of an amount,
for the purposes of the said County, of 1h? 0 3 3 ?/ G ;
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Municipality,
including all portions thereof, in the said year 1954, is the sum of
?7oG 8oz.77
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Police
illy age of Claremont in the said year is 72 8, 3 7 9,2 Z ;
AND WHEREAS the Township of Pickering High School Board has requisitioned
S-re 5--r5- ' Y for High School purposes in the year 1954, and such
requisitio shall be levied over the whole of the said Township;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the Township
of Pickering:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the Municipality of the Township of Pickering,
the rate or sum of /o.z -,4 Mills on the Dollar, which will amount
to the sum of 8 p / S 7. G r for the improvement and repair of
roads and bridges, t e payment of salaries, and the general expenses
of the Municipality in the year 1954, as stated in the preamble of
this By-Law.
2. That there be raised, levied, and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the Police Village of Claremont in the year
1954, the rate or sum of /o.z ,,,, Mills on the Dollar, which will
amount to the sum of 3 3 L z, L o for the purposes of the said
Village and Township, as stated in the said preamble.
3. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of Pickering
in the year 1954, the rate or sum of .2G Mills on the Dollar, which
will amount to the sum of 22-&'3 , to defray the cost of giving
Welfare to the unemployed and po r and hospitalization of same in
the said Municipality, during the year 1954, as stated in the said
preamble.
4. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of
Pickering, in the year 1954, the rate or sum of /a- 'r-Mills on
the Dollar, which will amount to the sum of 9 0 3 G
for the general purposes of the Corporation o the County of
Ontario, including maintenance and improvement of County and Suburban
roads, in the said year, as stated in the said preamble.
5. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
