BY-LAW to assess the several Public School Sections and Union Public
School Sections in the Municipality of the Township of Pickering, to
provide funds for the purposes of the said School Sections, in the
year 1951.
WHEREAS the Public School Boards of the several Public School Sections
( and Union Public School Sections in the Municipality of the Township
of Pickering have made requisition to the Council of the said Township
for the amounts named respectively in Column 2 of Schedule to this
By-law for use of the said Boards in paying teachers' salaries and
defraying other expenses of the Public Schools respectively in the
current year.
AND WHEREAS by Section 112 of the Public School Act, the Council of
iresai3 Municipality is required to levy the amounts named respectively
in Column 3 of the said Schedule and to pay the same to the several
School Boards thereof for use in paying teachers' salaries, excepting
from such payments such of the School Sections as have during the year
employed teachers at a salary of less than Twelve Hundred Dollars (:$1,200)
per annum for any one or more teachers.
AND WHEREAS the general school levy is being provided for under
another By-law of this Corporation.
AND WHEREAS the respective balances required by the aforesaid requisitions
as entered in Column 4 of the said schedule will, as directed by the
said Public Schools Act, have to be raised, levied and collected from
and upon all the rateable property in the said School Sections
respectively.
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Corporation
o the Townsh p o Pickering:
THAT there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in each of the Public School Sections of the
Township of Pickering in the year 1951, such a rate in each of
the School Sections as will be sufficient to raise the amount entered
in Column 4 of the said Schedule opposite the number of each such
Section respectively.
