WHEREAS the burning of dead grass on lands in proximity to buildings and
the lighting of bonfires in villages and other places sre Found to 1.e dan;;er)L
with resultant loss and inconvenience, and it is expedient to re elate. such
fires;

the Toernship of Pickering:
1. No person shall set out or liL;tit any bonfire or fi_rc for '.he burning of
rubbish, grass, brash, leaves, or for a:ny like purpose between the hour
of snnaet and the hour of sunrise of the follovrin, day, or a7-lo,,, -iny
such fire to continue after the hour of sunset, within the limits of the
Totianshi.p of Pickerin-.
2. Any person wh_o li;;hts a fire for the burnlnof rubbish, ras_-, brush,
leaves, or other lawful purpose shall, before doing so, take all necess?.ry
precautions to prevent the spread th-'reo£, ?lnd sti:1117_, before the fire is
lighted and during the whole of the time the faire is burnin_, n

control] in;; and preventing such fire from spr(-.ading.
3. No such fire shall be set, li.,?hted, or permitted to burn within twenty
feet; of any frame or wooden or partly ?vo.)dcn building, nor ??iithin fifteen
feet of any brick, stucco or concrete building.
4. Any person who contravenes any of the provisiunE? of this 7y-Laar s? 311 be
liable upnn conviction thereof before a :-:ajstrate or Justice o£ the
Peace, to a fine not exceedin;?., Fifty Dollars, to be recoverable undLr
the provisions of The Ontario Sum,iary Convictions Act, .rid in default of
payment thereof and of costs, to imprisonulent in the Comr,ion Gaol of the
County of Cntetrio for a period not exceeding tee; days, unless such fine
and costs be sooner paid.

fires;

the "Township of Ackering:
1. No pers::n shall set out or Ii t,t any bonfire or fire for the burning, of
rubbish, grass, brush, leaves, or for any like purpose between the hour
of sunset and the hour of sunrise of the followin day, or allow any
such fire to continue after the h„ur of sunset, within the limits of the
Township of ickerine.
2. Any person who libhts a :ire for the burnin,, of rubbish, grass, brush,
leaves, or other lawful purpose shall, before doing so, take ail necessary
precautions to prevent the spread thereof, and shall, bt.fore the fire is
lighted and Burin;: the whole of the time the ['ire is burnin_, keep a
sufficient number of persons iramnediattsly available ;or the purpose of
eortrollin,,: and preventing sue:, fire from spreading.
