HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3860/70THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 5 (o ?? being a by-law to authorize the construction of sanitary sewers and sanitary sewer connections and watermains and water service connections on the streets set out herein as local improvements under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. WHEREAS it is deemed desirable to construct the hereinafter described works as local improvements under the provisions of sections 8 and 67 of The Local Improvement Act and notice of the intention of Council has been published. NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. That a sanitary sewer be constructed on Sunrise Avenue between Breezy Street (manhole 132) and a point 100 feet east of Chipmunk Street (815 feet west of manhole 132) at an estimated cost of $11,400.00 as a local improvment under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. The entire cost of the said sanitary sewer is to be specialLy assessed upon the lands abutting directly on the work and upon lands not abutting directly upon the work but immediately benefitting therefrom. The entire cost, including debenture charges, shall be assessed and levied on the rateable property in the area set out in Schedule "All annex_ad hereto which is hereby defined a sanitary sewer and watermain local improvement area pursuant to section 67(1) of The Local Improvement Act, R.S.0.1960, as amended, and be paid by an annual rate of 890 per foot on the lands specially assessed. 2. That 18 sanitary sewer connections be constructed on Sunrise Avenue between 3xcozy D.civ(- (manhole 132) and a point 100 feet east of Chipmunk Street (815 feet east of manhole 132) at an estimated cost of $3,600.00 as local improvements under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. The entire cost of - 2 - each of the 18 connections shall be specially assessed upon the particular lot for or in connection with which it is constructed and be paid by an annual rate of $23.50 per connection. 3. That a watexmain be constructed on Sunrise Avenue from Bxeezy Drive to Chipmunk Street at an estimated cost of $11,800.00 as a local improvement under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. The entire cost of the said watermain is to be specially assessed upon the lands abutting directly on the work. The entire cost, including debenture charges, shall be assessed and levied on the rateable pxopexty in the axea set out in Schedule "A° annexed hexeto which is hereby defined a sanitary sewer and watermain local improvement area pursuant to section 67 (1) of The Local Improvement Act. R.S.0.1960, as amended, and be paid by an annual rate of 9;r per foot on the lands specially assessed. 4. That 18 water service connections be constxucted on Sunrise Avenue between Breezy Drive and Chipmunk Street at an estimated cost of $2,700.00 as local improvements under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. The entire cost of each water service connection shall be speahlly assessed upon the particular lot fox or in connection with which it is constructed and be paid by an annual rate of $17.62 per connection. 5. The Engineer of the Corporation is hereby authorized to make such plans, profiles and specifications and furnish such information as may be necessaxy fox the making of contracts, fox the doing of the work or for carrying out the same by day labour and the work shall be carried on and executed under the super- intendence and according to the dixections and orders of the said Engineer. 6. The entire cost of the works be paid by the issuance of 1 ?' EiC. FF 0 debentures bearing interest at the rate'of_10 per centum per annum and be repaid by the said special assessments over a term of 20 years. 7. The Treasurer of the Township may, subject to the approval of Council, agree with any bank or person for temporary advances - 3 - of money to meet the cost of the work pending the completion thereof. 8. Any person whose lot is specially assessed may com- mute by a payment in cash the special rates imposed by paying the costs of construction assessed upon such lot without the interest forthwith after the special assessment roll has been certified by the Clerk but may not commute after the debenture by-law has been passed. ci.l this READ a First and Second time and passed in open Coun- day of JS? 1970. SCHEDULE "A" SANITARY SEWER AMID WATER LOCAL IMPROVEMENT AREA ALL AND SINGULAR those certain parcels or tracts of land and premises situate lying and being in the Township of Pickering in the County of Ontario and being composed of those lands fronting or abutting on the north side of Sunrise Avenue lying between the west limit of Lot 802 on Plan M-19 and the east limit of Lot 784 on said Plan M-19 and those lands front- ing or abutting on the south side of Sunrise Avenue lying be- tween the west limit of Lot 9 on Plan M-7 and the east limit of Lot 36 on said Plan M-7.
