A By-law of the Corporation of the
Township of Pickering to abolish
the Standing Committees of Council
and establish an Executive Committee.
WHEREAS by Resolution Number 14/70 the Council of the
Township of Pickering expressed its desire to improve the
efficiency of the administration and to delegate authority to
the administration staff;
AND WHEREAS by Resolution Number 115/70 the Review of
Organization and Administration as outlined in the consultant
report prepared by Stevenson & Kellogg dated March 3rd, 1970,
was accepted;
AND WHEREAS the said firm recommended the engagement of a
Township Manager and the restructuring of the committee system;
AND WHEREAS Council by By-law Number 4178 defined and
determined the duties and responsibilities of the Township Manager;
AND WHEREAS the Council recognizes the need for greater
participation in the administration of Municipal policies, the
entertainment of citizen participation, and, to relieve itself
of the carrying-out of Municipal administrative functions;
THEREFORE it be resolved that the Township of Pickering is
hereby abolishing all Standing Committees of Council and
establishing in their place an Executive Committee, the function
of which will basically be to deal with policy issues, said committee

to meet every second and fourth Monday of each month:' Citizens ivy."S?j?
wishing to make representations t the Municipal Council are
requested to do so4at the Council meetings to be held on the
first and third Monday of each month, unless otherwise indicated.

BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and PASSED in
open Council this f ?1 day of 1972.
