BY-LAW NO. 812/78
To authorize the use of composite ballots
at municipal elections in the Town of
Pickering.
WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of Section 45 of The
Municipal Elections Act, 1977, the Council of a local munici-
pality may enact a by-law to authorize the use at a municipal
election of composite ballots.
NOW THEREFORE The Council of The Corporation of the Town of
Pickering HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. For the purpose of this by-law:
(a) "Local Councillor" shall mean the councillor elected
in a ward of the Town of Pickering to represent the
electors of that ward on the Council of the Town of
Pickering.
(b) "Public School Trustee" shall mean the trustee elected
in a ward of the Town of Pickering to represent the
public school electors of that ward on the Durham
Board of Education.
(c) "Regional Councillor" shall mean the councillor
elected in a ward of the Town of Pickering to repre-
sent the electors of that ward on the Council of the
Town of Pickering and the Council of the Regional
Municipality of Durham.
(d) "Separate School Representative on the Durham Board of
Education" shall mean the representative elected at
large in the Town of Pickering, the Town of Whitby and
the Town of Ajax to represent the separate school
electors on the Durham Board of Education.
(e) "Separate School Trustee" shall mean the trustees elected
at large in the Town of Pickering and the Town of Uxbridge
to represent the separate school electors on the Region
of Durham Roman Catholic Separate School Board of
Education.
2. Schedule "A" attached hereto shall be the form of composite ballot
to be marked by the public school electors eligible to vote in a
municipal election in the Town of Pickering.
3. Schedule "B" attached hereto shall be the form of composite ballots
to be marked by the separate school electors eligible to vote in a
municipal election in the Town of Pickering.
4. Any by-law or question authorized or required by law to be submitte,
to the electors for their assent or opinion shall be included on
the composite ballot, as shown in Schedules "A" and "B" attached he,
