BY-LAW NUMBER 1120/80
Being a By-law to prohibit the use of any lands
or structures for storing used motor vehicles
for the purpose of wrecking or dismantling them
or salvaging parts thereof for sale or other disposal.
WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 117 of sub-
section 1 of section 354 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970,
chapter 284, as amended, by-laws may be passed by Councils
of local municipalities for prohibiting the use of any lands
or structures for storing used motor vehicles for the
purpose of wrecking or dismantling them or salvaging parts
thereof for sale or other disposal:
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
No person shall use any lands or structures in the
Town of Pickering for storing used motor vehicles for
the purpose of wrecking or dismantling them or salvag-
ing parts thereof for sale or other disposal.
2. This By-law shall not operate to prevent a person
being the holder of a valid automobile wrecking yard
licence issued by the Town of Pickering pursuant to
By-law 1073/79 from carrying on the business of an
automobile wrecking yard as permitted by that licence
within the Town of Pickering so long as that licence
is valid and remains in effect.
3. Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of
this By-law shall be liable upon conviction thereof to
a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00)
for each offence, exclusive of costs, recoverable
under the provisions of The Provincial Offences Act, 1979.
By-law read a first, second and third time and PASSED this
20th day of May, 1980.
