HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1097/80THE CORPORATION OF THE TOTKN OF PICKERING BY-LAW 1097/80 Being By-Law of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering to stop up parts of Sheppard Avenue and to authorize the sale of same to abutting property owners. WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of subsection 1 of section 443 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, chapter 284, the Council of any municipality may pass By-Laws to stop up a highway or part thereof and to sell parts of stopped-up highways; AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to stop up those parts of Sheppard Avenue designated as Parts 42 - 63, 68 - 79 and 87 - 112 on Plan of Reference 40R-4433; AND WHEREAS notice of this By-Law has been published once a week for four consecutive weeks and the provisions of The Municipal Act relating to the stopping-up of a highway have been complied with; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. The lands described in Schedule "A" attached hereto are hereby stopped-up as public highway. 2. The lands described in Schedule "A" attached hereto shall be offered for sale to the abutting property owners at a price fixed at $2.00 per Part. 3. This By-Law shall not take effect until approved by the Regional Municipality of Durham and registered in the Registry Office for the Registry Division of Durham.
