Racism Taskforce be approved.

General Business
City Update: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
D. Yew Woon, Community Engagement Coordinator, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
and J. San Antonio, Supervisor, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion provided updates
including:
Deja Yew Woon taking on the role of Staff Liaison for the Taskforce in a
permanent capacity moving forward;
•
the status of the Anti-Black Racism Action Plan Project; and,•
an overview of key dates for the Taskforce, including deadlines for the Year
End Report and Work Plan.
•
D. Yew Woon to provide a summary of the dates to Taskforce Members by
email.
Executive Update: Budget
D. David indicated that there were no changes to the budget and that she would
provide an update regarding the Communications Subcommittee later in the
meeting, which may impact the Taskforce's budget.

Subcommittee Updates
Community Engagement
A. Fraser provided an update from the Community Engagement
Subcommittee, including:
the Missing Boys Documentary Screening at Pickering High School
on March 8, 2026 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm; and,
•
concern regarding an incident of alleged use of a racially
inappropriate term by Durham Regional Police Service's Deputy
Chief.
•
Communications
D. David provided an update from the Communications Subcommittee
speaking to the replenishment and addition of new promotional materials,
including the exploration of obtaining a tent for events and cards that have
Taskforce information on them.
PABRT 2026 Initiatives and Engagement Strategies
D. David highlighted events that the Taskforce had participated in, and would
potentially participate in this year, including:
the Black History Month Celebration Event that happened in February 2026;•
the Women's Day Event happening at the end of March 2026;•
the International Day for People of African Descent (IDPAD) Event;•
the Black Joy Holiday Market; and,•
the work with the Anti-Black Racism Action Plan Consultant.•
