David called the meeting to order and read the Land Acknowledgment. 2. Review and Approval of Agenda Moved By Odessa Williams Seconded By Paul Martin That the Agenda for the April 2, 2026 Meeting of the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce Meeting be approved. Adoption of Minutes 4.1 Meeting Minutes, March 5, 2026 Moved By Odessa Williams Seconded By C. Bussue That the Minutes of the March 5, 2026 Meeting of the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce be approved. Carried 5. Delegations There were no delegations. 6. General Business 6.1 City Updates: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion 6.1.1 Consultation Process J. San Antonio provided an update regarding the Consultation and Co- design project, speaking to: • meetings with the consultants; • the project's work plan; • the context provided to the consultants regarding the Taskforce and its work; • clarification regarding the project's timeline; and, • clarification that the project is a Taskforce-led project with City support. 6.1.2 5-Year Accessibility Plan – Community Survey D. Yew Woon provided an update regarding the City's 5-Year Accessibility Plan and spoke to the survey available to the community to provide feedback. D. YewWoon welcomed Taskforce members to provide feedback by completing the survey at letstalkpickering.ca/accessible. J. San Antionio briefly spoke to the City's Accessibility Advisory Committee and their work. - 4 - Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes April 02, 2026 3 6.2 Executive Updates 6.2.1 Discussion of 2025 Year End Review and 2026 Work Plan D. David spoke to the Taskforce's 2025 Year End Report and 2026 Work Plan. Discussion ensued amongst the Taskforce regarding: • the need for focus groups and public engagement as part of the Consultation and Co-design project, and whether funds need to be allocated specifically for this purpose; • clarification that the Consultant will be conducting the research and focus groups, and that the Taskforce would be in a supporting role; • the Taskforce's past youth engagement initiatives and whether there were opportunities to partner with community groups and local school boards; • whether the Taskforce should consider reallocating funds within their budget; and, • the importance of metrics and measuring outcomes of the Taskforce's work. Moved By Donovan Dill Seconded By Odessa Williams That the Taskforce reallocate $2,500.00 from the Marketing and Promotions budget allocation to the Contingency budget allocation. Carried Moved By C. Bussue Seconded By Paul Martin That the Taskforce’s 2025 Year End Report and 2026 Work Plan be approved, subject to administrative changes as deemed appropriate by the Chair. Carried 6.2.2 Subcommittee for ABR Action Plan Consultation Process D. David spoke to the need to appoint a member to the role of Consultation Subcommittee Chair and solicited Members for nominations. - 5 - Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes April 02, 2026 4 D. Dill nominated himself for the role. Moved By C. Bussue Seconded By Odessa Williams That Donovan Dill be appointed the Consultation Initiative Subcommittee Chair. Carried 6.3 Subcommittee Updates 6.3.1 Community Engagement A. Fraser provided a Community Engagement Update, speaking to: • collaboration with the Pickering Public Library Anti-Racism Working Group; and, • the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) Anti-Black Racism and Black Excellence Advisory Committee event happening on Thursday April 16, 2026 at 7:00 pm. A. Fraser to share further information regarding the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) Anti-Black Racism and Black Excellence Advisory Committee event happening on Thursday April 16, 2026 at 7:00 pm with the Taskforce. 6.3.2 Communications D. David provided a Communications update, speaking to: • the work to obtain a custom tent for the Taskforce; • the replenishment of pens, stress balls, tote bags, and other promotional items; and, • whether the Taskforce wanted to consider new promotional items. Taskforce Members were encouraged to reach out with any ideas on new promotional items to consider. - 6 - Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes April 02, 2026 5 6.4 Taskforce Feedback D. David solicited feedback from the Taskforce on opportunities for improvement. Discussion ensued amongst the Taskforce regarding: • the need to brainstorm on better ways to communicate with and reach the community regarding Taskforce initiatives and projects; • clarification that Taskforce members were permitted to reach out to their personal networks to promote initiatives and projects; • whether there were opportunities to solicit more presentations from community partners at Taskforce meetings; and, • the opportunity to increase attendance at community initiatives by better engaging with community partners. 7. Correspondence There was no correspondence. 8. Other Business There was no other business. 9. Next Meeting - May 7, 2026 D. David informed the Taskforce of the next meeting dates being May 7, 2026 followed by June 4, 2026. 10. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 8:26 pm. Dated this 2nd day of April, 2026. - 7 -
