Mascoll That the Minutes of the June 5, 2025 Meeting of the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce be approved. Carried Presentations Atish Pereira, Coordinator, Community Energy Management, City of Pickering Re: Energy Efficiency Programs A. Pereira, Coordinator, Community Energy Management was not in attendance. Delegations There were no delegations. General Business City Update: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion D. Yew Woon, Community Engagement Coordinator, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion provided updates including: a reminder to the Taskforce regarding the stipend process and the November 21, 2025 deadline for submission; • a Toronto Carribean Carnival Lunch and Learn oportunity happening on November 13, 2025 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at the O'Brien Rooms at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex; and, • the opportunity for a Taskforce member to participate in a focus group being held by the Community Services division regarding Pickering's museum, art, and public spaces. • Executive Update: Budget D. Yew Woon, Community Engagement Coordinator, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion provided updates regarding the Taskforce's budget including the Taskforce's spending on various events to date, the future Black Joy Holiday Market; and the current inventory list of marketing and promotional items. 5. 5.1 6. 7. 7.1 7.2 Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes November 06, 2025 2 Subcommittee Updates Communications P. Martin indicated that he would working with D. Yew Woon regarding flyers and information to be made available at events. Community Engagement Discussion ensued amongst Taskforce Mmebers regarding the deadlines for ordering additional marketng and promotional material before year-end. 2025 Event Debrief (Emancipation Day Celebration, IDPAD) O. Williams provided an update regarding the Taskforce's participation in the Durham Region Emancipation Day Celebration and the Taskforce's International Day for People of African Descent (IDPAD) Community Event. Black Joy Holiday Market O. Williams provided an overview of the 4th Annual Black Joy Market Event happening on November 14th and 15th, 2025 and encouraged Members to participate. PABRT Work Plan (How Are We Doing?) O. Williams spoke to the Work Plan, highlighting that the major upcoming project that the Taskforce will be undertaking would be the Consultation and Co-Design: Anti-Black Racism Strategy project. Taskforce members were encouraged to share any other project ideas with D. David for the Taskforce's Work Plan. Subcommittee Updates Consultation and Co-Design: Anti-Black Racism Strategy RFP Process D. Yew Woon provided an update on the Consultation and Co-Design: Anti-Black Racism Strategy project, highlighting: 7.3 7.3.3 7.3.2 7.3.4 7.3.5 7.4 7.3 7.3.1 Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes November 06, 2025 3 the 9 applications received for the project;• the review process for applications;• the preffered applicant being forwarded to Council in November for approval; and, • the anticipated start of the project by the end of the year.• PABRT Executive Nominations/Call for Members D. Yew Woon solicited interest from the Taskforce regarding whether the Taskforce should consider recruiting for new members and whether any members were interested in vacant Exectutive positions. Discussion ensued amongst the Taskforce regarding: the value of bringing on new members to take on the future work of the Taskforce; • the risk of not meeting quorum with the current membership;• ideally bringing the Taskforce up to appoximately 15 members;• the anticipated timeline to have potential new members appointed by the February 2026 Taskforce Meeting; • clarification that the term of new members would end in 2026;• whether existing Taskforce members would be participating in the recruitment process; and, • the value of bringing on new members for new ideas and ease of transition, despite the shorter term. • The Taskforce came to a consensus regarding the need to recruit new members for the Taskforce. D. Yew Woon and A. MacGillivray to initiate the recruitment process for new members. Members were invited to put forward nominations for the position of Vice Chair. O. Williams nominated herself for the position of Vice Chair. Seeing no other nominations for the position of Vice Chair, the nominations were closed. 7.5 Pickering Anti Black Racism Taskforce Meeting Minutes November 06, 2025 4 Moved By D. Dill Seconded By S. Mascoll That O. Williams be appointed to the position of Vice Chair of the Pickering Anti- Black Racism Taskforce. Carried 2026 Meeting Schedule O. Williams reviewed the draft 2026 meeting dates for the Taskforce. Moved By D. Dill Seconded By P. Martin That the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce 2026 Meeting Schedule be adopted as follows: January 8, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. February 12, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. March 5, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. April 2, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. May 7, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. June 4, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. Carried Correspondence There was no correspondence.
