5. New Business
5.1 Presentation from Kim Bradley, Special Advisor, Community Initiatives Re: Seaton Recreation Complex Project
Kim Bradley, Special Advisor, Community
Initiatives, through the aid of a PowerPoint
presentation spoke to the Seaton Recreation Complex & Library Project. K. Bradley discussed the anticipated indoor and outdoor amenities, the anticipated project timeline, the location, the
architectural concepts being considered for the
facility, and the opportunities to provide feedback.
Question and answer period ensued between
the Committee and K. Bradley regarding:
x whether a lawn bowling space had been considered for the facility; and,
x whether the design of the facility and
amenities will be climate change conscious.
5.2 Introduction of Matthew Somerville, Senior Heritage Planner
N. Surti introduced M. Somerville, the City’s new
Senior Planner, Heritage to the Committee.
M. Somerville provided introductory remarks.
5.3 Memorandum from Matthew Somerville, Senior Planner, Heritage Re: 1970 Brock Road (Post Manor)
M. Somerville provided an update to the Committee regarding 1970 Brock Road (Post Manor). He spoke to an Order to Comply issued to the property owner to legalize the division of commercial space in the Post Manor, and the
future mixed-use development proposed for the site.
5.4 Council Appointment of New Committee Member – November 2024
M. Somerville provided an update regarding the
recruitment and anticipated appointment of a new

Committee Member, to replace a member that resigned earlier in the term.
6. Other Business
6.1 Heritage 101 Training
N. Surti spoke to the opportunity to provide a
Heritage 101 training to the Committee to review and better understand changes to Heritage legislation and the City’s By-laws as it relates to Heritage.
6.2 301 Kingston Road Update
J. White inquired about the outcome of the property at 301 Kingston Road, and Council’s withdrawal of their intent to designate the property.
7. Next Meeting
The next regular meeting of the Heritage Pickering Advisory Committee is scheduled for November 27,
2024.
