BY-LAW NO. 2873 /88
Being a by-law to stop-up and close part of Front
Street and part of Bay Street, Plan 65, Pickering
(Parts 1-4, Plan 40R-8508) and to authorize the
sale of a part thereof to the abutting owner.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of sections 298(1) and 316(1) of the Municipal
Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, the council of any municipality may pass by-laws to
stop-up a highway or part thereof and to authorize its sale or the sale of a part
thereof at a fixed price; and
WHEREAS, notice of this by-law has been
weeks and the provisions of the Municipal

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. (1) That part of Front Street, Plan 65, Pickering, designated as Part 1, Plan
40R-8508, is hereby stopped-up and closed to vehicular and pedestrian
traffic.
(2) That part of Bay Street, Plan 65, Pickering, designated as Parts 2, 3
and 4, Plan 40R-8508, is hereby stopped-up and closed to vehicular and
pedestrian traffic.
2. A portion of the lands described in section 1(2), being all of Part 4, Plan
40R-8508, and those parts of Part 3, Plan 40R-8508, adjacent to Lot 1, Plan
M-89, and lying south of the westerly and easterly extensions of the north
boundary of Part 4, Plan 40R-8508, shall be offered for sale to the abutting
owner at a price fixed at a transfer to the Town, free and clear of all encum-
brances except registered easements and rights-of-way, of a 3.0 metre wide
walkway and bicycle path easement along the entire easterly boundary of the
abutting owner's lands, which offer shall be made by the Town on or before
December 2, 1988.
