BY-LAW NO. 2828/88
Being a by-law to stop-up and sell part of Road
Allowance between Concession 1 and Range 3,
Broken Front Concession, Picketing (Parts 16,
20, 28-57, 60, 61, 69-80, Plan 40R-11259;
Sheppard Avenue) and part of Road Allowance
between Lots 26 and 27, Range 3, Broken Front
Concession, Pickering (Parts 21 and 22, Plan
40R-11259; Fairport Road).
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of sections 298(1) and 316(1) of the Municipal
Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, the council of any municipality may pass by-laws to
stop-up a highway or part thereof and to authorize its sale at a fixed price; and
WHEREAS, notice of this by-law has been published once a week for four consecutive
weeks and the provisions of the Municipal Act relating to the stopping-up of a high-
way have been complied with;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. (1) That part of the Road Allowance between Concession 1 and Range 3,
Broken Front Concession, Pickerlng, designated as Parts 16, 20, 28-57,
60, 61, 69-80, Plan 40R-11259, is stopped-up and closed to vehicular and
pedestrian traffic (Sheppard Avenue).
(2) That part of the Road Allowance between Lots 26 and 27, Range 3,
Broken Front Concession, Pickering, designated as Parts 21 and 22, Plan
40R-11259, is hereby stopped-up and closed to vehicular and pedestrian
traffic (Fairport Road).
2. The lands described in section 1 shall be offered for sale to the abutting own-
ers at a price fixed at $49,881.53 per acre, which offer shall be made by the
Town on or before August 5, 1988.
3. The period within which an abutting owner may exercise his right to purchase
the portion of the lands described in section 1 that abut his lands shall com-
mence at 9:00 a.m. on August 8, 1988 and end at 4:00 p.m. on August 19,
1988.
BY-LAW read a first and second time this 27th day of June, 1988.
BY-LAW read a third time and finally passed this 2nd day of August, 1988.
