Being a By-law to amend Restricted Area (Zoning) By-law 2520 as amended, to implement the
Official Plan of the Town of Pickering District Planning Area, Region of Durham. (A 15/96)
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering deems it desirable to revise the
location of accessary structures;
AND WHEREAS an amendment to By-law 2520, as amended, is therefore deemed necessary;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Subsection 5.19 (a), (b), (c), (e), and (f) of By-law 2520, as amended, is hereby revoked and the
following substituted therefore:
5.19 ACCESSORY BUILDINGS AND USES
(a) Except as may be provided herein, all accessory buildings which are not part of
the main building shall be erected in the rear yard;
(b) Accessory structures must be setback a minimum of 0.6 metre from all lot lines
except that:
A accessory structures greater than 10 square metres in area shall be set
back a minimum of 1.0 metres from all lot lines or,
B accessory structures greater than 1.8 metres in height shall be set back a
minimum of 1.0 metres from all lot lines;
(c) No accessory building shall exceed a height of 3.5 metres in any residential zone
and 4.5 metres in any commercial zone;
(e) The total lot coverage of all accessory buildings excluding private detached
garages, shall not exceed 5 percent of the lot area;
(f) Human habitation is not permitted in an accessory structure.
2. BY-LAW 2520
By-law 2520, as amended, is hereby further amended only to the extent necessary to give effect
to the provisions of this By-law. Definitions and subject matters not specifically dealt with in
this By-law shall be governed by relevant provisions of By-law 2520, as amended.
This By-law shall take effect from the day of passing hereof subject to the approval of the
Ontario Municipal Board, if required.
