Amos to the meeting. J. Amos introduced himself and provided some background of his involvement with diversity and positive race relations at school. Update [YOU[nity members that have left the Committee are to receive a thank you letter. M. Carpino provided an update of the "In Your Words & Expressions Contest". • Contest posters will be posted in all facilities . • Contest posters have been provided to Phillip Howard of the Durham District School Board for circulation to teachers/schools. • Marisa has yet to confirm suitable delivery date with Sylvie Morel-Action Items / Status (include deadline as appropriate) All MC M. l Foster of the Durham Catholic School Board. • Media Release and advertisements in the community page and October City of Pickering Family Calendar will promote the contest to the general public. At the request of Councillor Pickles: • Flyer is to be sent to school board trustees . • M. Carpino to provide copies of flyer for members at the October meeting. Community Survey • No responses have been received from Community Groups . • M. Carpino suggested asking questions when meetings take place at the cultural locations. Coffee House • J. Amos provided an overview of the Coffee House Event which will take place in November 2009. Students will begin planning the event once school commences and students can get together. • M. Carpino advised that the boardroom at the library has been reserved for Monday evenings from 7-9 pm and that the meetings may commence at any time. J. Amos to contact B. George from the Library to advise of the first meeting date. 3.0 Other Business • Councillor Pickles suggested holding Committee meetings at cultural locations, perhaps the Devi Mandir. To be tabled for discussion at the October meeting. • J. Amos suggested that the Committee participate in community events to get more people involved in the Committee. Councillor Pickles suggested that piggyb,acking on other pre-existing events may work best.
