presentation of a photograph of PARU's rescue unit in
appreciation of Council 's continued support.
Laura Lalla, 2497 Parlcdale Street, addressed Council
with respect to By-law 2613/87 (Closing of Redwood
Lane). She stated that if the road is closed,
children will have a much farther distance to walk to
school and the sidewalks on Finch Avenue are not
plowed of snow on a regular basis.

Penny Mitchell, 2509 Parkdale Street, addressed
Council with respect to By-law 2613/87 (Closing of
Redwood Lane!. She stated that although SOlIe
residents knew the road would be closed, they did not
. know when and felt it should not ~ closed at this
tiMe. She added that with only one access to the
subdivision children's safety is affected because of
the longer distance to walk to school and increased
traffic on to Finch Avenue. She subllitted a list of
persons who are opposed to the closing until a second
vehicular access is available and requested a
pedestrian access to Finch Avenue be provided until
such time as the subdivision to the east is developed.
Grant Morris. addressed Counc i1 with respect to Dra ft
Plan of Subdivision l8T-83021 on the west side of
Altona Road, north of Twyn Rivers Drive. He requested
Council's approval of amendments to delete the medium
density in exchange for the parkland designation and
provide nine single family dwellings with ð walkway to
the conservatfon lands.

in the Region of Durham for area municipalities within the

That the Honourable John Crosbie, Federal Minister of Transport,
be advised:

That the Town of Ajax has been advised that an
application has been submitted by the Municipality of
Metropolitan Toronto to the Minister of the
Envi ronment of the Provi nce of Ontari 0 seek i"g
approval to open and operate the Brock South Landfill
Site in the Town of Ajax.
The location of this proposed landfill site is within
the 8 km. radius around the proposed Pickering airport
wi thi n whi ch Counci 1 understands the Federal
Government does not permit landfill sites
and further,
The Federal Minister of Transport be asked if he will
be fi 1 i ng an objecti on to the proposed Brock South
Landfill Site because of its location
and further.
The Federal Minister of Transport be provided with a
map showing the proposed Pickering airport location
relative to the proposed Brock South Landfill Site.

adopted, and that the said By.laws be now read a Third Time and
PASSED, and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal

Councillor Brenner asked when street lighting will be

Councillor Brenner introduced the following Notice of

Councillor Brenner asked for a pri nt out for Account

for reconstruction.
Councillor Arthurs inquired into the status of the
catch basin problem in the Rougecrest subdivision.
Councillor Arthurs stated an amendment to Resolution
1138/87 regarding mailings by Members of Council
should be made to indicate the specific number of
letters permitted to be mailed.
