Mr. Harry Vandervelde, representing the Lantana
Corporation and Ms. Bogna Crenson, representing
Proctor and Redfern, presented the site plans for the
Parkway Co-op at Valley Farm Road and Finch Avenue.
The following persons from the Brock Ridge COIII1Iunity
Association, addressed Council with respect to the
lack of progress in their subdivision:
a)
Beverley Morgan expressed her dissatisfaction
respecting uncompleted works and poor
construction of homes. She suggested that a
colllllittee of staff, builders. the developer and
member5 of the community inspect progress and, if
necessary. cash the letters of credit if works
are not in compliance.
Bruce Weaver. stated the Department of Public
Works should be restructured in order that
building inspections can improve.

Whereas the Corporat ion of the Town of Picker ing has dec 1 ared
itself an equal opportunity employer; and
Whereas through this Motion the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering has taken a positive step to recognize the imbalance
that has taken place in this society as it perta!Os to the
disabled, to women, and to visible minorities in the work force;
Now therefore, in a further effort to right this int>alðnce, it
is the intent of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering to
develop a policy of contract compliance which will eover the
purchasing of all goods and services purchased externally,
including investments, insurance policies, speciõlized
consulting and other services, including goods and services
purchased by agreement, contract, purchase order õnd
di~bursement vouchers; and
It is further recoRl!lended that this matter be referred t" the
Task Collll1ittee on Multicultural and Race Relations in order to
develop an implementation schedule and IIIOnitoring vehicle
allowing it to be operational. Same should be reported baçk to
this Council with their recol!IIIendations and an action plan no
later than March 31, 1988.

will make a recommendation to the Region of Durham on each plan
of subdivision; and
That the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Piekering
will recolMIend plans of subdivision as premature when it is
evident that the infrastructure is unduly stressed as it relates
to those matters of Provincial and Regional responsibility, and
as it relates to the Town's ability to monitor. inspect and
supervise residential development; and
That this policy will be in force until such time as it is
evident that the Prov incia 1, Regional and Town governments can
respectively resolve the aforementioned concerns at their level
of responsibility.

Councillor Brenner asked that the status of curbs and
sewers be rev iewed in the Rosebank South and Rosebank
North Communities.
