Hr. Doug McIntosh stated there is no fac 11 ity in
Town for artists to display their works or for
IllUsicians to perfor8. He also stated a cultural
centre would not be a drain on 8Unicipal funds
because ad8ission would be charged.

Recreation C~lex was built but has not been acted
on. He stated that the Town needs a cu1tura1

also requested a facility for her students.
Mrs. Verity Hobbs. Secretary of Pickering P1ayers,
stated a central library and an arts centre is
needed in the Town.
Mr. John Piggott requested that a cultural centre

address the soc ia 1. recreat iona 1. hea 1 th care and hous ing needs of
this group of individuals, that staff be directed to consult with the
Hinistry of Seniors Affairs. the Social Planning Council of
Ajax/Pickering and any other interested agencies in order to
investigate the possibility of cO8pleting a present and future
profile of senior citizen needs in the Town of Pickering.
