Hr. Reginald Todd. 1320 Altona Road. addressed Council
with res~ect to ZoninS BY-law 1907/84 and stated that he
o~jecta to the manner in which the owner of the lands
stated in the by-law is trying to secure a portion of
his property in order to build three houses.
Hr. Garry HcBride, 1115 Woodlranse Avenue sub.itted a
proposal for the separation of hil lands that included s
land trade with the Town that involven the triansular
parcel of Town-owned lands at the southeast corner of
Woodlranse Avenue and ¡¡oule.ount Drive.
Mr. Tholl.s Sween y. 1156 Rouge.ount Dr ive. stated that he
oPP06ed the orieinal proposal of Hr. McBride to purchase
the trianlular parcel of Town-owned land at the
southeast corner of Woodgranle Avenue and Rougemount
Driye and 8Ak.rl to be inforlled if this matter will be
considered in the future.
Mr. Kevin ~~apman. 390 Woodgrange Avenue. stated that he
would like to see the triangular parcel of land remain
as open space and asked Council to consider changing the
zoning of the property to enaure that it remains as open
apace.
Hr. ~on Spoule. 457 Rougemount Drive. stated that he
objects to any trading of land between Hr. McBride and
tbe Town and indicated that the triangular parcel of
land contain~ a uatercourae.

A representative of a business located in 1305 Sheridan
Mall Parkway stated that if Council changes the name of
Sheridan Mall Parkway to Town Centre Parkway now. it
will cost his company $25.300 to change its literature,
however. if the street name change occurred on January
1. 1985. it would cost $10.800 and on July 1. 1985. it
would cost $400.

Mrs. M. Hamilton. 1480 Sheridan Mall Parkway. stated
that the residents in the Town Centre are transient and
would require several months to properly change their
street address.

OTHER BUSINESS
Councillor Mitchell stated that persons who are holding
garage sales are erecting signs on traffic poles and
asked that this be discontinued.
Councillor Kitchen refuted an article in the Pickering
Bay News regarding the Town's contract for garbage
collection.
The following matters were discussed prior to the
regular meeting:

a grievance from the Fire Department:

The Executive Committee of the Town of Pickering having met
October 9. 1984 and presents its fifteenth report to the Council
of the Town of Pickerins and recommends:
1.
DESIGNATION OF HOUSE OWNED BY
PETER AND REBECCA CONSTANTINIDES
ON CHURCHWIN STREET IN THE
HAMLET OF WHITEVALE

W~ereas pursuant to Section 29.6 of the Ontario Heritage
Act, the council of a municipality may pass a by-law to
designate property to be of historic or architectural
value or interest; and
Whereas the house owned by Peter and Rebecca
Constantinides on Churchwin Street in the hamlet of
Whitevale is recognized as being a building of historic
and architectural value and private funds have been
expended to restore this building.
Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town
jf Pickering hereby directs the Town Clerk to prepare a
by-law pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act to designate
the Constantinides house;
and that Peter and Rebecca Constantinides be responsible
for the cost of advertising all notice~ required
pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act.

to the proposed increases in the services and rates of
Bell Canada;
and that the C.R.T.C. be requested to undertake a review
of the relationship between the actual cost of providing
particular telephone services and the rate being levied
in different locatities;
and that the C.R.T.C. b~ requested to undertake a review
of the existing application of long distance telephone
rates with a view to removing such barriers within lo~al
and regional municipalities;
and that the C.R.T.C. be requested to refuse any
increases to the residential telephone rates.
