A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the THIRTIETH day of ~,
1962, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. P. H. Poulsson accepts position of Township Engineer.
qee By-Law 2717.
2. W. B. White Insurance Limited carry the Township Liability
þolicy. A large claim has been made when the dump was set
fire at 5 p. m. in a high wind, and 30 acres of land was
burned over. As the attendant left the dump after he lit
the fire, the White Insurance Company asks that more care
be taken in this matter. Letter referred to Sanitation
Department.
3. ADY Park and Swimming Pool have a garbage collection once
a week on Friday and they claim that keeping garbage from
week-end to Friday is unsanitary, so ask for a second pick-
~p on ~uesday.

4. Department of Highways of Ontario telephones that cost of
installation of flasher lights at Moore and White Roads -
Highway 2, would be $800.00, with Township to pay $400.00,
~nd approximately $100.00 yearly to maintain. No action.
5. ~r. Jack Chapman feels he cannot keep sideline between
~ots 8-9, Concession 5, open during operations. He will
~ot use it after late Fall to next March, and believes he
~ill have all gravel out in 1963.

6. project Planning Associates Limited submit amending By-Law
for Zoning By-Law 2511.
7. H. ,Ashton submitted a report on silting at mouth of Rouge.
The blockage is due to natural causes and low water.

MOVLP ~y Mr. Deak~n, seconded by Mr. Wank, that this Council
decl~re' Monday, August 6, 1962, to be CIVIC HOLIDAY, and that
this day is therefore a Public Holiday in the Township of
Pick,ring. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 212/62
MQ~ED by Mr. M~wbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that in view of
the report submitted by Mr. Ashton this Council does not consider
that the Township is under any obligation to take steps to open
the mouth of the Rouge River. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 213/62
MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Wank, that effective upon
the return to work of Mr. Chapman there be created a Township
Works Department which shall perform all of the functions of the
present Roads Department and shall in addition have charge of
garbage collection and the garbage dump, and that the Head of
such department be called the Superintendent of Works and be one
and the same person as the Road Superintendent, all as recommended
by the Finance Committee. CARRIED

~~s. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce
a By-~aw of the Township of Pickering to appoint an Engineer for th~
Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time.
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 2717
to appoint an Engineer for the Township of Pickering be now read a
secon~ time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2717 be adopted, and that the
said ~y-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to designate a through highway
in the Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. W~nk, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2718
to deßignate a through highway in the Township of Pickering be now
read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2719

Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 2511,
and tpat same now be read a first time.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that By-Law Nymber 2719
to amend By-Law Number 2511 be now read a second time, and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
Council AGREED that Township should buil! a fence and give a free
water outlet for Alex Picov in accordance with resolutions passed
June 11, 1962 - Resolutions 185 and 186.
DIRECTIONS
~
1. Clerk ask Department of Transport to view Rouge Highlands and
suggest proper stop streets.
2. Road Department clear brush from CODner of Concession 7 and
sideline between Lots 4 and 5.
