A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY. the TWENTY-SECOND day of SEPTEMBER,
1958, at ~IGH1 o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. A. J. Kin~ requests a Kennel License in farm barn, Concession 2, Lot 25.
Mr. Thompson has oanvassed area and recommends the granting of a lioense.
2. DeDartment_of Public Welfare. New regulations. Province will pay up to $8.00
grant per day and up to ~50 per call for registered nurses employed by
Township to assist families in home that otherwise might require being
placed in Rest Homes or Hospitals. Clerk get report from Mr. Thompson on
need.
3. Hi~h Soho~l Board make formal application to Council tor $560,000.00
debentures to build and equip new school at Concession Broken Front,
Range 3, Lot 29.
4. C. H. Henderson commends Council for excellent ditohing Job on east side
of East Avenue.
5. A resident of Roseb~ complained about danger to ohildren at old water
reservoir on Lot 26, Plan 233. Mr. Thompson asked owner, Mr. Watson, to
fill on May 20, 1957. Has not been done.
6. CountyAss~ß~ recommends that a police village area be oreated in built
up portion of the Township so that Township oan assess telephone and
telegraph oompanies on gross receipts. Council agreed to proposed area.
7. BODedale CODstruction COmDany (Gordon McBride) has submitted to the Depart-
ment of Planning and Development application for 44 lots on ten aores
between Island Road and Highway 401, Lot 35.
8. Mr. D. D'Antim~ asked for a letter of tolerance on Lot 129, Plan 612, as one c
of house too near street line.
Mr. Walter Ber£man was heard and recommended that Township secure services of a go
engineer, expressed opinion that proposed storm sewer on Island Road very poorly
planned by our Consulting Engineers. Reoommended water services be put in by
trenching maohines, not backhoes.

MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. James, that a Kennel License be granted Mr.
King in Concession 2, Lot 25. CARRIED

RESOLUTION NUMBER 175
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that a letter of tolerance be
granted Mr. D. D'Antimo on Lot 129, Plan 612, because the house tronts King
Arthur's Court and is 36 teet from street line at ea~~ side and only 25 feet
3tinches at west side due to a curve in the street and By-Law requires house

MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mrs. MoPherson, that old reservoir on Lot 26,
Plan 233, be filled in by the Township at the expense of the owner. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 177
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, that Hopedale Construction Company
plan of subdivision, Broken Front, Range 3, Lot 35, be submitted to the Planning
Board, with a oopy t6 our Planning Consultants, and that they give oonsideration
to traffic problem. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seoonded by Mr. Hawthorne, that the Municipal Board for the
Province of Ontario be requested to set a time for hearing the representatives
of the Township of Pickering with respect to the Township's request to join with the
Town of Ajax in the building af a water plant to serve the Town of Ajax and the
Township of Picked. ng CARRIED
AGREED that Mr. Malcolm be permitted to rent road allowance in front of his two
lots in Plan 509 for One Dollar per year subject to 30 days' notice to vacate.

Mr. Scott, seoonded by Mr. Stewart, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Piokerin~ to provide for the issue of debentures in the aggregate
prinoipal amount of '560,000.00 to provide moneys for the purpose of building and
equipping a sixteen room high school in the Pickering District High Sohool Area,
and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Soott, seoonded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that B,y-Law Number 2338 to provide
for the issue of debentures in the aggregate principal amount of $560,000.00
to provide moneys for the purpose of building and equipping a sixteen room high
school in the Pickering Distriot High School area, be now read a second time,
a~d that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. .

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves for leave to introduoe a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to amend Bf-Law Number 2016 regulating the erection
of buildings, and to repeal B,y-Law Number 2093, and that same now be read a first
time. J
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Stewart, moves that By-Law Number 2339 to amend By-Law
Number 2016 regulating the erection of buildings, and to repeal ~-Law Number
2093, be now read a seoond time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves
the Whole on By-Law Number 2339 be adopted,

Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to assume all the roads in Plan 612 as Township
roads, and that same be now read a first time.
Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2340 to assume all
the roads in Plan 612 as township roads, be now read a seoond time, and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the B.y-Law as read.
Mr. S4ewart, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the report of the Committee of the
Whole on By-Law Number 2340 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a
Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal .of
the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
