PRESENT: William G. Lawson, in the Chair J. Sherman Scott - Sidney S. J. Pugh Edgar James Mrs. Jean McPherson Robert L. Stewart Lloyd T. Johnston, Clerk The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. R. G. Godson ~sked Council to extend time in which he may return to Township employment. 2. Mr. Hassard asked Council's direction as to his proceeding, in law, to remove fences on sideline at Morgandale erected by Dr. Taylor. 3. Notice that Ontario MuniciDal Board will hear Lorne Puckrin appeal September 18th at 10 A.M. in Toronto. '/I' " 4. Our Solicitor advises that Chesterhill Development Company do not object to their $5,317.50 donation to improve south ditch of Island Road beir1g used in storm sewer on north side of said road. ~ 5. Mrs. M. Rudolph proposes to purchase part Lots 16 and 17, Plan 228, Woodlands Road, so is applying for Kennel license. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard. 1. Mr. Child of Proctor, Redfern and Company reported: (a) They had re-appraised the storm sewer proposal on Island Road and now estimate cost of 18" storm sewer from Brownfield Avenue to Rouge Dills Drive $4,700.00, and cost of storm sewer 18" to top of hill and 21" from there to Rouge River $4,300.00, for a total of $9,000.00. v II (b) He recommended that that part of Brownfield Gardens and Brycemoor which is now scouring be sodded at cost of $600.00 to $650.00. (c) Anderson and Associates have instructed builder to build a retain- ing wall on south side of Lot 2, Plan M 5. 2. Mr. Jack Chapman stated he could get a heavy front end loader It yards as follows: v .. Mr. John Lay an~ Mr.. Fritenberg discussed a supplementary pension plan for Township employees. 6. W. J. thomDson stated that the Township Tax Collector was doing a good though difficult job in collecting taxes and asked Council to stand behind him. ~ ~ 7. Mrs. G. Newell asked that Council not object to Mr. Fisher building a commercial building about 300 feet south of Highway No.2 on west side of Station Road, in which he would manufacture church ornaments, etc. v AGREED that there be no objection by Council. RESOLUTION NUMBER 153 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that a kennel license be not granted Mrs. M. Rudolph o~ parts Lots 16 and 17, Plan 228. CARRIED v RESOLUTION NUMB~R 154 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Mrs. Jacqueline McManus be engaged as Typist for the Assessment Department at salary of $1,800.00 per year, on a three mo~th probationary period. CARRIED / V RESOLUTION NUMBER 155 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. ~ames, that Proctor Redfern be in- structed to call for tenders for the construction of a storm sewer on the N. side of Island Rd. from Brownfield Gardens to Rouge Hill Dr., thence east of Rouge Hill Dr. on the N. side of Island Rd., under Rivercourt Dr. and into the Rouge River. It is understood that the portion from Brown- field Gardens to Rouge ttill be paid for by Chesterhills and the balance charged to the Municipality as a whole. CARRIED v RESOLUTION NUMBER 156 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Mr. Chapman be instructed to prime Brownfield Gardens if our engineers feel the road is ready for nriming. It is understood that the cost of the priming be paid for by the Monies received from Chesterhill sub-dividers for this work. First Class Fireman-Driver $4.50 for the first 2 hours 2.00 for each hour thereafter 2.50 for a false alarm 2.50 for grass fires less than 1 hour . :2 2.50 for minor car fires Second Class Firemen (less than 2 years service) $3.00 for first 2 hours 1.75 for each hour thereafter 2.00 for false alarm 2.00 for grass fire less than 1 hour -;i 2.00 for minor car fires 2. 3. Volunteers (not trained) $2.50 for first 2 hours 1.50 for each hour thereafter 1.50 for false alarm 1.50 for minor grass fires and car fires BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the difference in pay due to the discrepancy between resolution 281 and what the volunteers actually received be paid immediately. CARRIED CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 1. Get easement through Quick lot, Plan 678, rrom Reid Scott. 2. Ask Road Department to remove silt from Mr. Lamb's lawn on Rivercourt v Dri ve . 3. Get information on who may sit as a member on a Conservation Authority - Any person who lives in the ~ownship. 4. Advise owners of proposed motel that there is some difficulty re water.
