MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Minutes of Meeting
held January 13, 1958, be adopted. CARRIED
1. Sam Kinrys asked for information re a proposed Wrecking Yard in
Concession 1, Lot 30. Clerk advise license necessary and he may
make application. Have Mr. Thompsol1 canvas the area.
2. Press release re addition of twelve-bed addition to Ajax-Pickerin~
General Hospital at cost of $50,000.00 - funds "virtually il1 hand".
3. Metro Toronto Industrial Commission Annual Meeting January 29th at
?:30 P. M. As a member they ask for a delegate. AGREED Reeve Lawson
attend.
4. Our Solicitors advise gravel pit injunction decision will be handed
i!own later.
5. De»artment of Health report 011 seven Township Cemeteries.
6. Clerk has all of Metro Toronto Licenses in one By-Law and recommends
that a Committee consider repealiJ1g all our licensing By-Laws and
aqopting theirs with chan~es for December 31, 1958. AGREED Mr.
Thompson and Clerk brin~ in a report.
Mr. Crichtol1 was heard and asked that Council endorse their resolutions
t.hat:
(1)
If the Conservation Authority build a dam in their proposed new
Park in Concession 4, Lots 12 al1d 13, that it be constructed of
such a form and stren~th that it will act as a restraint on the
dowrward passage of ice and water in Spr~ng break-up and unusually
heavy rains.
(2 )
That in view of the present state of widespread unemployment, and
the fact that a need to control flood waters in the Duffin's Creek
Watershed does exist, now is the time to implement the Kilbourne
Report - Plan B - both as a conservation measure, and a means of
relieving unemployment.
The Reeve appointed a Street Namin~ and Numberin~ Committee of Messrs.
Scott, Stewart and Hawthorne.
AGREED t.hat a Banquet be given to members of the Planning Board, Court d'
Revisior, Fence Viewers, Game Committee, Industrial Committee, Recreation
Committee and High School members on Thursday, February 20th, and to
Firemen on March 6th, if it can be arranged-with the Brougham Ladies to
provide such dinner'¡

ROVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that if a dam is to be built

RESOLUTION NUMBER 15
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that in view of a letter
from the Riverside Ratepayers' Association to the Metro Conservation Authority
re~arding a project to ease the unemployment situation, that the Clerk be
instructed to write the Minister of Labour and find out what projects this
Muricipaltty may undertake with federal assistance to help relieve the unem-
ployment situation in this Township. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that the Township of Pickering
Cemetery Committee comprise the following members:

BY-LAW NUMBER 2292
Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering to appoint members to the Township of Pickering
Planning Board and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, moves that By-Law Number 2292 to appoint
members to the Township of Pickering P~anning Board, be now read a second time,
and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

of the Whole on By-Law Number 2292 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and
the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Stewart, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to authorize an application to The Ontario
Municipal Improvement Corporation for the purchase by it of certain debentures, J
and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Hawthorne, seoohdèd by Mr. James, moves that By-Law Number 2293 to
authorize an application to The Ontario Municipal Improvement Corporation for
the purchase by it of certain debentures, be now read a second time, and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the report of the Committee
of t~e Whole on By-Law Number 2293 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and

CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Submit to Council Members all salaries of employees and comparative wages ,¡
paid other Municipal road employees, and last year's budget, and pound
fees for dogs.
2. Ask Mr. Godson to bring in report on which is cheaper - to buy more land ~
for fill on Four1hConcession, or draw fill from pit, and report on survey
of Pickering Beach.
