A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the SIXTEENTH day of SEPTEMBER, 1957
at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Minutes of meeting held
September 9, 1957, be adopted. CARRIED
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Townshin of Markham request a joint meeting of delegated Council members
to discuss gravel pits and gravel truck damage to roads. Expected
members from Townships of Whitchurch, Pickering, Vaughan, Caledon,
Uxbridge and Markham.
2. Notice of Ontario Municipal Board HearinÆ - Town of Ajax vs. Consumers'
Gas Company and Pickering Township re assessment appeal October 25th
at 10 A. M. at 145 Queen Street, Toronto.

3. A. J. Thomnson advised he got a conviction against McBride Gravel trucks
operating on Fourth Concessio~in their gravel pit from 8 P. M. to 6 A. M.,
contrary to our Nuisance By-Law.
4. Police Report, August. 196 occurrences.
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. Mr. John DesBrisay, solicitor for Mr. Godfrey, owner of 200 acres at
Greenwood, 150 acres of which lies in our zoned "Greenbelt", asked that
By-Law be amended to permit his client to operate a gravel and sand pit.
He claimed the By-Law could be laid aside in the Courts, and asked
Council to sign an Agreement whereby they would level the used worked-out
lands, etc., for permission to operate.
2. Mr. F. Parkinson, President of the Greenwood Property Owners' Association,
with a delegation of about 50 persons, presented a Brief against any change
in Greenbelt By-Law. Other persons who spoke against any change were:
Mrs. Phelan, Messrs. Rogers, Young, Hambleton, Wilkins, Owens, Kinsman,
Mrs. Longland, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Rodda, Mrs. McPherson, Mrs. Corry, Dr.
Barclay, Mr. Allis, representing H. B. Burritt; Roger Conant asked that
if By-Law changed his client Roder be permitted to open gravel pits.

3. Mr. Baker, of Liverpool Ratepayers' Association, asked for clarification of
location of garages in proposed new By-Law.
4. Mrs. Crichton asked about public school buses. Referred to School Board.
5. Mr. TaYlor, of Pickering Beach Ratepayers' Association, asked about their
Fire Area proposal. Councillor Stewart stated that as a new Fire Chief for
the Township had 'been employed, he would be asked for his comments.
6. Mr. Stanley Murdoch, Concession 4, Lot 14, asked that sideline to west of
his property be surveyed and widened to a proper width.
7. Arthur Hed£e asked permission to move disbanded temporary School Area 1
building fro~ presènt location in Lot 35, Concession 1, Whitby to Pickering
Beach. Agreed to build to proper size and satisfy Building Inspector.

application of Mr. GOdfrey to have By-Law Number
of gravel f'rom the lands in question.

RESOLUTION-NUMBER 171
MOVED by Mr. Julian, seconded by Mr. Chapman, that attached garages be permitted to
extend to f'our f'eet from lot line and detached garages at rear of' homes be permitted
to be four feet f'rom site lot line in the new proposed Zoning ~-Law for LiverpOol
area. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 172
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. James, that Arthur Hedge be granted a permit to
move abandoned temporary School Area 1 building into Pickering Beach providing the
Building Inspector is satisf'ied that all building regulations are complied with.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 173
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that the Municipality apply to the
Minister of Planning and Development for permission to sell the f'ive lots donated
by Rouge Highlands Subdivision and upon permission being granted, of'f'er the said
lots for sale at the best price possible. Upon tœ sale of the said lots, the
Municipality shall purchase Lots Plan 612, on which is situated a barn.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Recreation Committee be requested to negotiate
an agreement with the West Rouge Kiwanis Club f'or the use of the said Centre.

Reeve Lawson stated he had suggested a meeting with Pickering Village Council to
discusseAossible annexation, amalgamation, and united services, that Pickering
VillageAwlV£responsive to the suggestion, and that a meeting may be called
for September 26th Yhen an agenda could be prepared for discussion.

CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. As the new channel of Duffin's Creek has been blocked to provide a swimming
pool in the old channel south of Riverside, which may create a hazard next
Spring, Clerk ask f'or direction from Department of Lands and Forest.
2. Ask Mr. Godson to examine south half of sideline between Lots 14 and 15,
Concession 4, with a view of establishing a proper 66 foot road.
3. Submit offer to Badgerow for right-of-way with a copy of' survey.
