Lawson, in the Chair J. Sherman Scott Sidney S. J. Pugh Edgar James Glenn Julian Robert L. Stewart L. T. Johnston, Clerk The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. May Police Fines, net, $ 112.97. 2. Mrs. Florence Coward asked for a Kennel License for lot 125 feet by 156 feet immediately east of Green River Church. She keeps Labrador Retrievers. Mr. Thompson investigated and found the kennels would be under the Church windows, and a number of neighbours objected. 3. PitneY Bowes will rent Township a Postage Meter ~or Six Dollars per month plus Thirty-Two Do~lars and Fifty Cents for installation, or sell a larger meter for $ 280.00, F.O.B., Toronto, Tax included. The office uses about $1500.00 postage yearl~ and it is estimated that the average meter uses only use about $360.00 per year. ~ ; 4. Principal Investments Limited asked the Township, and Scarborough Township, to officially close the Town Line from Highway No. 2 to a point 1,228 feet northerly. " 5. Mr. Hassard submitted legal opinion that the removal of sand or gravel must be construed as a "Commercial" project and as such could not be permitted under our Greenwood Greenbelt By-Law without amending By-Law, and Municipal Board approval. 6. ~. Hassard submitted recommended changes to our proposed agreement with ROttge Highlands Construction. The following PERS9NS, on MOTION, were heard: .,I ,¿ 1. Mr. Godson discussed roads: .; (a) Asked for 25 tons calcium to mix with gravel for ro~d paving @ $35.60 - $ 890.00. (b) Asked that three more areas of Altona Road be drained so that the road would be completed. (c) Submitted tender prices for asphalt paving, with Miller Paving the lowest. / Council agreed to the foregoing and proper' resolutions will be submitted for next Council meeting. 2. A dele£ation o~ 17 persons including H. B. Burritt, his solicitor Mr. Allis, H. A. Newman, Dr. Barclay, Mrs. Phelan, Edna Green, Mr. Rogers, all of Greenwood areá, objected to any change in the zoning of the Greenbelt south of Greenwood. I. 3. Mr. Rancier and Mrs. Campbell complained that a fence erected at end of Beachview and in Pickering Beach so could not now go around corner and down Park Avenue. Mr. John Patton, of Claremont, Bailiff for Pickering Township, stated he would collect delinquent Township taxes for 5~ of such arrears plus 20¢ one way one call and that he would collect such taxes pain- lessly and not offend the delinquent. v - 2 - 5. Mr. Bilton asked for a Taxi License to operate from Ace Taxi Stand in Scarborough. As he had a Township Taxi License several years ago, which was not requested to be renewed owing to injuries received in an accident Council agreed to issue a License subject to the approval of the Chief of Police. / 6. Mr. Devonshire, of Rouge Highlands subdivision, asked that the Agreement with the Township be signed, subJect to the amendments suggested by our solicitor, Mr. Hassard. 7. W. G. Newman asked that Council give consideration to (1) Dyson Cowan Estate at Rosebank is charged $350.00 for Local Improvement rates on some 800 foot frontage of vacant lots, except one, in Plan 233, and asked that the Estate be charged on a maximum 200 feet, as is Mr. J. C. Rodd. Council felt that as the Rodd property was not in the registered plan, they could not be considered in same category and as the petition as signed setting out the cost per foot frontage, it could not now be changed to a much higher figure, (2) That 4.93 garbage fee on tax bill on one acre - his home - be cancelled as he is on a farm and does not use collection. ,¡ That 12.74 garbage fee on tax bill on 39/100 of an acre - Thomas Newman home - be cancelled as he is on a farm and does not use collection. Council agreed that these two houses should not be charged for garbage collection. 8. W. A. Scott, re Greenwood Sand project. AGREED Council members meet at Paddock, Greenwood, to view part of Greenwood Greenbelt at 7 P. M. June 24th. ,," RESOLUTION NUMBER Ll,l· MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that Reeve and Clerk sign Rouge v Highland Subdivision Agreement when received from solicitors with certain changes. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 112 MOVED by Mr. Julian, seconded by Mr. Scott, that a Kennel License be not granted Mr. Coward, of Green River. CARRIED .' RESOLUTION NUMBER 113 MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Clerk purchase a postage meter for f280.00 outright. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 114 MOVED by Mr. Julian, seconded by Mr. James, that Clerk purchase 4 fans for office at cost not to exceed $75.00. CARRIED v ~ AGREED an extra man be hired for Road and Garbage Departments to fill in for holiday period. MOVED by Mr. Julian, seconded by Mr. Scott, that the Apr accounts, amounting to ~422 .02,'" as reported by the POLICE COMMITTEE, be adopted. CARRIED MOVEDby Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, that the May accounts, amounting to $ 1,075.0l,~as reported by the POLICE COMMITTEE, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Scott, that the April accounts, amounting to $ 510.50,~as reported by the FIRE COMMITTEE, be adopted. CARRIED '" .' MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Julian, that the Reeve grant his order on the Treasurer to pay the several accounts as presented and passed in the various reports as passed this day. CARRIED ..... - 3 - LERK'S INSTRUCTIONS '" .,Mr. Godson check Beachview Road for right-of-way at end, to Park Road, and give an estimated cost of placing Beachview in shape for Township to take over. Get legal opinion from Mr. Moore if Council can permit Miss Kelly to build ,house of 720 square feet. Ask Mr. Moore for all documents pertaining to Griffin Hotel Agreement and forward to Mr. Hassard for opinion. . On July 15th produce six months' Road Expenditures and expected revenues. Get legal advice on Claude Smith Agreement to purchase gravel crusher for $ 8,500.00. Send copy of Highland Creek Sand and Gravel letter of application for sand pit in Greenwood area to Mr. H. A. Newman. Get opinion of manner to proceed to require the Town of Ajax to pay 50% cost of boundary road operation aAd paviøg for 1956 and current year. Try to get grass cut at Fairport Beach Community Park for June 22nd.
