A Meeting of Council was held in the Municipal Building Brougham, on MONDAY,
the NINETEENTH day of NOVEMBER, 1956, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read.

The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. Mr. Meen and Mr. Forsyth, owner of Plan 284, Lot 59, were agreeable that
Block C plus sufficient land for a 66 foot road be granted Township, then
Township take over and build a road and levy 100% cost on four lot owners
equally over three year period and have ~:two inch watermain laid on same
basis. Mr. Mason, owner of Lots 60-61, agreed.
Council indicated that the road could be handled in this manner but asked
Mr. Godson to give his estimated costs at next meeting.
Mr. Roberts, of Concession 2, Lot 22, felt that our Mr. Thompson's survey
for Kennel License not to be a true report. Mrs. McPherson and Mr. A. J.
Thompson investigate.
Mr. Godson asked Council to require grades for front door level on all
future buildings submitted by himself before a Building Permit issued,
and that a One Dollar Permit be taken out by all persons who wished culvert
for driveway.
Mr. Morrison and delegation from Plan 440 stated that practically all owners
in their plan were agreeable to assist in paying for drainage, but if all
did not contribute they would withdraw thei~-offer.
IT WAS AGREED that Mr. G. PIitz be asked to put Susan Drive in proper
shape, then if not successful, have entire Plan 440 less lots on Base
Line put under Local Improvement. Petitions to go to Mr. MacKay and Mr. Morrisor
Mr. Geri~s agreed to work as Dog Catcher full time. Council agreed to
supply a double garage for about fifteen dog cages if approval secured from
Pickering Villages.
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that Reeve and Clerk sign Agreement
releasing Press lot in Broken Front, Range 2, Lot 35, from restrictions placed
on adjoining subdivision. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that Proctor, Redfern and Laughlin
be asked to submit costs of two former water schemes as submitted to ratepayers
previously in the light of 1957 prices. CARRIED

Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $ 125,000.00, and that same
now be read a first time.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2184 to
authorize the borrowing of . 125,000.00 be now read a second time and Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

The Committee of the Whole on' By-Law Number 2184 arises and reports the By-Law
as read.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the report of the Committee of the
Whole on By-Law Number 2184 be adopted and that the said By-Law be now read a
Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of
the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2185 (Two Readings)
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of t 153,000.00 upon D~bentures
for School purposes, and that same now be read a first time. ~
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2185 to authorize
the borrowing of $ 153,000.00 upon debentures for school purposes, be now read
a second time, and Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2186 (Two Readings)
Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $ 101,500.00 upon debentures
for the installation of a waterworks system, and that same now be read a first
time.
Mr. Scott, seconded by Mrs. McPöerson, moves that By-Law Number 2186 to authorize
the borrowing of $ 101,500.00 upon debentures for the installation of a waterworks
system, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the
WHOLE THEREON.

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to appoint places for receiving votes and persons to
preside thereat for 1956 Municipal Elections, and that same now be read a first
time.

Get file on C. N. R. and watermain at Rouge West.

Advise Building Department Marino caretaker may live in trailer Concession
, 1 Lot 17 for three months and only one renewal for three months if he
deposits $ 300.00 and takes out a Building Permit now. (Tom Marino, 251
Raleigh Avenue, Toronto).

Mr. Thompson advise Mr. Bell in Plan 612 to have Septic Tank corrected or
it will be condemned by Board of Health.

Clerk's Instructions
7. ,Advise Messrs. McIntosh and Devonshire they cannot sell lots until plan
registered and they are bonded.
8. Contact Dr. Tomlinson re children in Area 2 who failed to get Polio
inoculation.
9. Ask Mr. Thom~son to investigate trailer at Old Post Inn.
