HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 9, 1956 MUNICIPAL BUILDING BROUGHAM An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY the NINTH day of APRIL, 1958, at BIGHT o'clock in the evening. PRESENT: Mr. WIt. G. Newman, in the Chair 1m. G. Lawson J. Sher.an Scott Sidney S. J. Pugh Mrs. Jean McPherson Lloyd T. Johnston, Clerk Three ratepayers of White subdivision, who had been advised by Mr. Ruddy that Council would instal new steel culverts at 5~ of cost, agreed to wait several weeks for Johns-Manville culverts. 1. Clifford Schwalm, Dog Catcher, asked for: (a) 2 loads gravel in lane. (b) That his wife be permitted to pick up dogs during the day when he is working so as to decrease his work. (e) Salary increase from $450.00 to $ 800.00. 3. Mr. Eddie Mahoney, Taxi O¡tera tor on Harwood Dri ve, asked that as most of his work is in Ajax where meters are not required, he be permitted to operate without a meter. 2. 8. 4. Mr.Sidn~y Stewart, ot Harwood Avenue, stated the Gasoline Stations on each side ot his home had built up the ditch so that water now stands at front ot his house and the gravel he placed there vas taken away by maintainers. Mr. Ruddy investigate and he be written - Box 35, Ajax. 5. Robert Watson discussed garbage collection. 6. W. M. Jarvi~, for Shell Oil, re Weèd Spray. 7. United Towqshins ot Neelon and Garson submitted a resolution for en- dorsement, "That the Hydro Electric Power Commission revise rates in Townships wblih have built up areas". MOVED by Mr. PUgh, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that resolution of the Townships of Wlelon and Garson be endorsed as requested. CARRIED The residents of the Udøarton Area submitted a petition asking for a minimum speed limit On:r¡ghWAT 2 between Dixie Road and the White Road, a distanoe of one mile. Council agreed to endorse this petition and forward to the Departllent of Highways. MOVED by Mr. La..on, seconded by Mr. Scott, that E. G. CARRIED NO ACTION was taken on request tor increased salary for Clitford Schwalm. Mr. LaWSOD, se.onded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law N1mber 2163 to increase .ertain Municipal Employee salaries be now read a second ti.e, and Council go into Committee ot the Whole thereon. The Committee ot the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, .oyes that the report ot the Co_ittee or the Whole on Bv-Law NUBlber 2163 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED: that the Reeve and Clerk sign the s..e and the seal ot the Corporation be atfixed thereto.
