An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY the THIRTIETH day of
JANUARY, 1956, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT: William G. Newman, in the Chair
William G. Lawson

Mrs. Jean McPherson
L. T. Johnston, Clerk
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Salvation Army, request for grant.
2. C. A. TriDP, Clerk Township of Scarborough, advising that our request
for division of payment of our Town Line south of Highway 401 has
been referred to Committee of Roads and Works.
3. H. L. Fair, Department of Agriculture, Uxbridge, thanks for $25.00
grant to Ontario County Soil and Crop Improve~ent Association.
4. J. W. Fiorini, Concession 2, Lot 25, again asking permission to
operate a "skeet" shoot. NO
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. Mr. May, for Mr. Walton, who proposes to purchase 22 lots in Plan
422 from Minshull.
2. Mr. Crockford, for Mr. Wilcox, requesting Wrecking License at
Concession 5, Lot 5, objected to the planting of trees around his
lot, but would agree tbat yard never be larger than 5 acres and he
would not cut trees on his lot closer than 500 feet to his west
boundary.
3. Mr. T. M. Moore presemted one By-Law to regulate Gravel Pits, and
one to create a Garbage Area, and discussed land use.

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that the Planning Board be ad-
vised that the Council recommends consent of the sale, Minshull to
Walton, and that the Secretary of the Board be advised to advise Mr.
Flatman and Mr. Walton that consents of the Planning Board will be
required to the sale in future of each individual lot, and that such
consents will not likely be granted until the road and drainage
problems within the subdivision be remedied. CARRIED
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Mr. Wilcox be
granted a Wrecking Yard License on Concession 5, Lot 5, providing:
(1) Said Wrecking Yard will never in future be larger than 5 acres
nor extend to wi thin 500 feet of his westerlJT boundary.
(1) The fence is painted, as required by By-Law, by May 1, 1956.
(3) That Mr. Wilcox agree in writing to above regulations.
Tha t all motions inconsistent with this mot.ion are hereby repealed..

MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Scott, that a grant of $ 25.00
be given Salvation Army for 1956. CARRIED "
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Douglas PIitz be
appointed Township Treasurer. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Treasurer pay Ivan Beare
t 985,00 for placing þydro under Canadian National Railway tracks to
pumphouse, as per Tender. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that Council recommend to
the Court of Revision that they sit in the evening. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2137
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a
By-TAW of the Township of Pickering to appoint members to a Court of
Revision of the Assessment Rolls, and that same now be read a first time.
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2137
to appoint members to a Court of Revision of the Assessment Rolls be
now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and report.s the By-Law as read.
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2137 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to appoint pound-Keepers and Fenceviewers
for the Township of Pickering for the year 1956, and that the same now
be read a first time.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by }w. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2138 to appoint
Pound-Keepers and Fenceviewers for the Township of Pickering for the
year 1956, be now read a second time and that Council go into Cor~1ittee
of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2138 be adopted and that
the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Ask Charles McTaggart if he will act as Warble-Fly Inspector.

2. Get costs of Railway sidings and how borne.
3. Write Kiwanis if lot available for Library at Dunbarton.
4. Get Swimming Pool regulations.

5. Get Mr. Moore's opinion on area payment sidewalks and lights.
6. Arrange meeting for William G. Lawson and William G. Newman to
meet Mr. Lyle, Industrial Department, Department of Planning and
Development.
7. Get in touch Road Auditor, Mr. McKinley and have him advise for
February 6th why he considers Mr. Ward should carryon with books
for 1956.
